This is yet another big win for our people of Kasese. Touching the livelihood of our people in such a critical time is due. We are hopeful for a continued growth of this our youth led Community. Any more support of all kind is highly welcomed.

With the persistent landslides and floods that have claimed lives and devastated agricultural land in Kasese, Uganda—the region where my friend Roice K.Bwambale ????? hails from—I am proud to stand with him and be among the first of his Kenyan colleagues to amplify the voices of the youth in the Rwenzori region. These young people are working tirelessly to change the narrative, putting in remarkable efforts and sacrifices to combat #climate challenges. Roice K.Bwambale ????? co-founded Climate Touch Network and has united several CBOs, allowing them to collaborate for greater impact than what they achieved individually. Their voices now resonate beyond borders, inspiring youth-led organizations across #Africa to come together for collective action. Moreover Roice K.Bwambale ????? chose not to let his cofounded initiative AfriClimActiv to work alone while other CBOs with same mission existed. I am inspired by Roice's vision of an Africa-wide movement and deeply believe in the possibility of his dream becoming reality. Wearing my Climate Touch campaign t-shirt today, I am hopeful that this same spirit of unity and resilience can help save our own Kenyan and similarly affected african communities affected by similar challenges.

We celebrate this remarkable journey that our Co-founding partner IYAN has moved since her establishment. The young generation in climate action have a couple of lessons to pick from its very young co-founders .(13yrs and 17yrs) by then was an age not close to being creators of intiatives. Misaki Daniel and Muhindo Esther did the unthinkable.

Once a home to Whites is now a source for disaster. Due to its richness in minerals, Kilembe was a potential source of copper, gold and other minerals some decades back. It served Kasese district and Uganda at large in terms of employment and economic growth, development and transformation. However, floods along River Nyamwamba have turned almost everything down , right from employment to massive destruction of property and land tenure. Kilembe was once known for minerals and it is now baptized as a ‘City for Floods and landslides.’ The mining buildings and the staff buildings have been left useless due to floods. The reknown Kilembe Mines Hospital washed away and now a Health Centre in the community.

Poor drainage and solid waste accumulation along water channels are significant contributors to these floods, and it's a problem that requires a joint effort from both communities and government to solve. Proper waste disposal is a crucial step in mitigating these issues, and it's essential that we work together to address this. Let's rally together to support those affected and work towards finding sustainable solutions to Uganda's climate crisis.
