A network of local U.S. island leaders and allies helping island communities respond effectively to climate change.
关于我们
“The oceans do not separate us, they connect us. This network allows islanders to stand strong together at the frontlines of climate change and fight for our sustainable global future." -CSIN Steering Committee Co-Chairs, Brenda Torres & Austin Shelton The Climate Strong Islands Network (CSIN) is governed by an independent Steering Committee and is co-hosted by The Ocean Foundation and the Global Island Partnership. CSIN's objectives include: ? Driving more resources, supportive policy, and attention to U.S. Islands. ? Advocating for resiliency improvements in housing and infrastructure, and tying those together with federal funding opportunities. ? Amplifying the collective voice (needs and opportunities) of U.S. island communities, especially through the Climate Strong Islands Declaration. ? Supporting a laboratory of learning, identifying bright spots and lessons learned to replicate best practices, and accelerate progress on island sustainability and the circular economy, energy, housing and community development, natural climate solutions, regenerative agriculture, national policy reform agenda for islands, COVID-19 impacts, and the intersection between local and global actions. ? Link U.S. island champions to each other to accelerate progress. ? Link the Network to the global island network, including U.S. island leadership. ? Leverage guidance and contributions from the CSIN membership to help U.S. islands adopt proven solutions for climate change mitigation and to achieve climate resiliency goals.

Sustainable Island Partnerships | Climate Resilience & Biodiversity Advocate | 20+ Years Global Experience
Ok after much self examination i am attending NY Climate Week this year and will be there from 22nd of September. The scales tipped. But this is a great opportunity to connect with our global islands community who might be in New York as well as supporters of islands. Looking forward to progressing work with Global Island Partnership (GLISPA), Local2030 Islands Network, Blue Nature Alliance, Island Conservation, the Reef Resilience Initiative, Conservation International, Ocean Risk and Resilience Action Alliance and other partners. Below is a great pic of our team from Local2030 Islands Network with our colleagues at the Ocean Foundation and Smithsonian Institution from NYC last year.

CSIN is proud to sponsor the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation and Capitol Hill Ocean Week! This year's theme, “Leadership” deeply resonates with our network’s priorities, as strong #leadership is crucial for driving change in our islands and protecting our oceans. #CHOW2024?

Last week marked the second annual Climate Strong Islands Network (CSIN) policy fly-in, where local Island leaders travelled to D.C. to speak directly to lawmakers and staff in Congress. Over the course of three days, CSIN members met with congressional and senate offices as well as federal agencies that impact U.S. Territories and Islands. CSIN works to bring together representation from all U.S. Islands, from the Pacific to the Caribbean and everywhere in between, seeking to build an effective coalition across sectors and geographies to drive more resources locally and advocate for policy and legislation that greater represents the local needs and opportunities for U.S. Islands. CSIN focuses on seven thematic areas of policy reform: clean energy, watershed planning, food security, disaster preparedness, the marine economy, waste management and transportation.?A very special thank you to Lirio Marquez, Marissa Merculieff and María Gabriela Huertas Díaz for your impactful testimony and to Elizabeth Okeke-Von Batten and the dedicated team at High Street Strategies for organizing such a thoughtful and effective week!
