Climate Science Alliance

Just over a month ago, I completed my time as a binational fellow with California Sea Grant and Climate Science Alliance . As a result of this two-year project, I developed a report that compiles strategies to strengthen coastal resilience in the San Diego-Baja California region. This report highlights opportunities to integrate science, traditional knowledge, and innovation to support resilient communities and ecosystems. Climate Science Alliance presented the New Wildfire and Sea Level Rise educational Materials to more than 35 attendees at the California Association of Science Educators Conference. It was an amazing day in Sacramento where the Climate Science Alliance and Noyo Center for Marine Science? shared these resources with educators and unveiled the new Climate Science and Fire Traveling Trunk ??????. On February 1st, we joined over 35 local environmental organizations to participate and lead activities in the 20th Annual Love Your Wetlands Day ?????? on Kumeyaay Land at the? Kendall-Frost Marsh Reserve. This event was hosted by UC San Diego Natural Reserve System and the San Diego Bird Alliance. Five of our team members spent the day in community with over 1,300 people in attendance, enjoying the day with our partners ??, having fun at our booth and coloring table ??, and encouraging folks to explore the reserve trails ?? and interact with the “Hear Our Names” plant signs. With over 40 years as a public artist, Johnny has worked with mediums including stone, wood, and metals such as: bronze, stainless steel, and aluminum. He is a recognized public artist, sculptor, and community leader. Through art he contextualizes the Native Community in a contemporary setting allowing it to be preserved for generations ahead. ??
