CRI urges EU leaders to reject the European Commission’s proposed rollback of sustainability commitments. Read the press release to learn more: https://lnkd.in/gAZW6BKi
With the active efforts by the new US administration to make climate change worse, we are looking to the EU to not only hold the line, but to treat climate change as the emergency that it is. In one key area, the EU has been slowly -- too slowly -- building the architecture to address corporate responsibility for environmental harms and human rights abuses. So it is shocking and saddening to see the Commission propose watering down landmark legislation, such as the?Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive?(CSRD), the?Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD),?and the?EU’s sustainable finance taxonomy, that was just about to start making an impact. This proposal to effectively undo the Green Deal is dangerous on its own, and if adopted would send a signal to the rest of the world to drop all efforts to protect forests, reduce emissions, and monitor supply chains for enviornmental and human rights harms. The whole world will suffer, but it will be the world's poor and most vulnerable who will pay the biggest price. This proposal can only come into effect if agreed by EU Member States and the EU Parliament. Now is the time to let them hear that we will not accept backtracking on climate change or human rights. The EU should be a global leader, not a follower of the nihilists in Washington. https://lnkd.in/gG2WY44E

We stand in solidarity with our partners in the Global South following the Dutch government’s recent decision to drastically cut financial support for international development. These cuts—coming on the heels of the Trump administration’s callous freeze on USAID—deal a devastating blow to critical programs advancing women’s rights, fighting gender-based violence, and tackling climate change. #RestoreTheFunds #GlobalSolidarity #HumanRightsForAll #ClimateActionNow
Hier gaan we spijt krijgen. https://lnkd.in/epZmjsv7

CRI signs on with 25 civil society organizations and businesses to an urgent call for full implementation of EU Batteries Regulation due diligence rules.
The EU Batteries Regulation’s due diligence rules are crucial for ensuring sustainable, ethical and resilient battery supply chains in Europe. Over 25 NGOs, businesses, and labor organizations are raising concerns over potential delays to the rules and calling for urgent implementation. Since the adoption of the regulation in 2023, the need for responsible batteries has only accelerated. The European Commission must fully implement the due diligence obligations by August 2025 to maintain Europe’s leadership in clean and ethical battery production.
