As we look to the future, the importance of sustainable design and construction has never been clearer. With?75% of the infrastructure needed for 2050 still unbuilt, our decisions today will shape our planet for future generations. That’s why, in the latest edition of the?Vestre Journal, we’re sharing everything we know about?materials, maintenance, and certifications?to help you make informed and sustainable choices. This edition is a true collaboration. We’re thrilled to feature insights from the brilliant?Pamela Conrad, who shares her expertise on?reducing project emissions effectively—a critical step in designing for a better future. At Vestre, we’re proud of our strong partnerships with innovators like?Kebony,?SSAB, and?Norsk Hydro, to mention a few, and the fact that over?500 of our products are certified with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel (Milj?merking Norge - Svanemerket). These collaborations and certifications represent our ongoing commitment to sustainability and excellence. A huge shoutout to the amazing?Vestre team?for bringing this edition to life! We hope this special edition on materials sparks meaningful conversations and empowers you to make sustainable choices. Read more in your preferred language: https://lnkd.in/gKgpsu8J

Positively impacting the climate and biodiversity crises in the exterior built and natural environment.
关于我们
Climate Positive Design brings people together to reduce and remove greenhouse gas emissions from the atmosphere through the exterior built and natural environment, while supporting biodiversity and healthy, equitable communities. We offer innovative thinking and create tools, guidance and resources to facilitate this collective endeavor. According to UN Habitat, the urban built environment is responsible for 75% of the world’s global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. As those leading the planning, design and implementation of built spaces, we must advocate, educate and design for climate and nature positive outcomes that reach beyond carbon neutrality. Our Mission To positively impact the climate and biodiversity crises in the exterior built and natural environment through advocacy, education and design. Advocacy Collaborating with clients, colleagues, stakeholders and governments to accelerate positive global action through consultation, workshops and speaking engagements. Education Providing the tools, resources and guidance required to communicate and improve the various environmental impacts of our work as planners, designers and developers. Design Creating, collaborating and supporting projects that provide positive environmental and social impacts through thoughtful planning and design. We are pleased to see that ‘WORKS with Nature: Low Carbon Adaptation Techniques for a Changing World’ has now launched, providing a detailed list of the different techniques deployed around the world, across various environments to combat climate change. The United Nations National Adaptation Planning team and Kotchakorn Voraakhom worked on this over the past year with support from Climate Positive Design, the American Society of Landscape Architects, the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA), Vestre and Landscape Forms. IFLA President Dr Bruno Marques shares: ‘As landscape architects, we are uniquely positioned to lead the charge towards a regenerative future. “WORKS with Nature” is a testament to the power of nature-based solutions, reminding us that by working with, not against, nature, we can heal our planet and build thriving communities for all. This collaborative effort embodies the spirit of IFLA, showcasing the incredible impact we can have when we combine our global expertise. Let “WORKS with Nature” be our guide as we continue to design resilient, biodiverse, and beautiful landscapes for generations to come. This guide showcases the transformative power of landscape architecture globally.’ Read now >> https://buff.ly/3V2aPnI #Adaptation #Mitigation #Climatechange #cop29 #landscape

Founder | Senior Fellow | Sustainability Expert | Climate Policy Advisor - Leverages expertise in design and sustainability policy/strategy to generate scalable designs for innovative and net zero buildings.
Yesterday at COP29, thanks to our wonderful Pamela Conrad, we discussed the importance of aligning NAPs (National Adaptation Plans) with NDCs Nationally Determined Contributions.? It is clear that close coordination between all building professionals is required. Our professions and titles we leave behind to make a change at the national scale! We brainstormed on the challenges and opportunities with NAPs and NDCs with Ministers, policy makers and practitioners. We agreed strategies to overcome these and how we can turn them into opportunities. There is so much to say and do, however I wanted to share these 3 that I am very passionate about: 1- Capacity & Capability building: We need the right people with the right knowledge in the right place. Where we don’t we need to gain that knowledge, now and quickly! It gave me hope that developing nations are being awarded $3M to prepare NDCs. 2-Political support: We need political support to create and implement NAPs and NDCs. Vision and support matters. I mean this at national and sub-national government levels as well as industry politics if you know what I mean! 3- Ideas: We need location specific ideas that are inspired and influenced by local wisdom! Remember one size doesn't fit all and there is no silver bullet or magic wand. All innovative and technical ideas are important and welcome! Priceless conversation. Thanks to Thailand Pavilion for hosting us! #Arch2030atCOP29 follow the rest of our delegation: Anica Landreneau, Pamela Conrad, Edward Mazria, Vincent Martinez, Lori Ferriss, AIA, PE, Lisa Richmond, Lauren Alger, PE, Eustacia Brossart, Kelly Alvarez Doran, Rosie Paul, Prem Sundharam, and Ghaith Tibi #Arch2030atCOP29 #COP29 #zerocarbonfuture #SufficiencyByDesign #BuildingTheTransition #NetzerobuiltEnvironment #RegenerativeFuture #Decarbonization
