We've been very busy recruiting for our first paid post at Climate News Tracker, the pivotal role of Managing Editor. We received over 120 applications from a wide range of very high calibre candidates and after a long process are delighted to announce?the appointment of Alan Strange. Alan is an award winning journalist with more than twenty years in the newsroom leading TV and digital news teams. He joined Sky News in 2002, first as a news producer covering global stories including?conflicts?and natural disasters, then as programme editor across Sky's live and rolling television output. He was also responsible?for all Sky News journalism on social and digital video?platforms, helping transform?Sky into one of the world's biggest digital?news publishers. In 2021 he was asked to launch?Sky's cross platform environmental?programming, including the the first ever daily climate TV news programme, the ClimateCast podcast and the Climate Show with Tom Heap, a weekend magazine show examining solutions to the crisis. Alan's extensive experience will be a huge addition to Climate News Tracker and we are very excited to have him on board to grow the organisation and take it to the next level. Alan adds;?'I’m delighted to be joining Climate News Tracker as Managing Editor. It’s a critical time for our planet, and for journalism to play a pivotal role in addressing one of the most pressing issues of our time, and I’m eager to contribute to that effort. Having spent more than two decades working in television and digital journalism I know first hand the challenges news desks face reporting the story while juggling a busy news agenda. But climate change poses an existential threat to the planet and to us. So, I’m excited to collaborate with newsrooms and academics who are dedicated to enhancing climate crisis reporting.
