Two inspiring days of partnership and climate equity at COP. The people of Azerbaijan have been such gracious hosts — from the hotel staff and drivers to the keynote speakers, youth leaders, and people of all ages staffing the official COP zones. A special thank-you to Rufat Aghazada, who helped us with so much from badges to conference room and logistics. Should we not do COPs in oil-producing countries year after year after year? Absolutely. It’s been a little too frequent lately. But that doesn’t diminish the immense effort and coordination required for a small country to host a global conference of this scale. For me, it’s been a privilege to help organize a delegation that connects young people and educators to the global climate conversation and contributes to building the framework needed to elevate climate education on a global scale. A big shout-out to our SEMI members in the Climate Equity & Social Impact Working Group who have responded to our Call-to-Action (CTA) as we work to increase diversity, tech, climate equity, education, and partnership in this space. thanks to Pramod Kumar Sharma for taking the time to meet with us here on the ground and sharing invaluable wisdom with our group, and to Elizabeth Soper and my CTA co-authors Bia Hamed, Ph.D. and Marley Hauser for their pre-trip insights, co-authoring, guidance, and conversations. ARC (ARCedtech) and Westtown School Francine Locke, MS and Chris Wills and our student leaders. More to come about them…. Three more days to go… Climate Equity Collaborative COP29 Azerbaijan
