The historic heatwaves with temperatures exceeding the 40°C threshold have been intense in the Balkan Peninsula and Eastern Europe, surpassing long-term averages. ?? Climate change is affecting atmospheric circulation patterns, resulting in heat blockages and increasing the duration and intensity of heatwaves in the region. This reminds us once again of the urgent need for immediate and global collective efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate the impacts of climate change, preventing further intensification of extreme weather events like heatwaves
