Yesterday, CAPS interns shared their detailed lighting analysis with American Inc., spotlighting the energy-saving potential of LED upgrades across six Porterville Unified School District sites. Interns created an Energy Efficiency Measure (EEM) table to detail the cost-saving benefits of switching to LED lighting, underscoring the impact of sustainable upgrades on school operations. ???? CAPS interns working on Porterville Unified School District's Farm to Fork project helped organize a special visit from Madera's Queen Honey LLC to classrooms in Porterville! Over 700 students learned about honey farming and enjoyed delicious honey sticks! ???? In addition to planting, interns also built protective wire baskets for the saplings, cleared trash from trails, and learned best practices in tree care. Funded by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE)'s Green Schoolyards Grant, this hands-on work imparts skills that prepare these interns to help create green spaces across five school sites, creating healthier learning environments and more climate-resilient schoolyards. ??
