We are a company of friends and colleagues, fathers and mothers and sons and daughters, investors and supporters, who share a common determination to leave our children and all other beings on earth a world in which they can thrive. We formed as a for-profit, “B” company instead of a nonprofit company for several reasons. First, we didn’t want to depend on donors, nor take scarce climate donor dollars away from others who were perhaps not as able as we are to make a profit. Second, we wanted to become donors ourselves by giving away most of our profits to others who are also working to save the planet but require financial support. Most importantly, we didn’t want to have our hands tied by the restrictions the government imposes on nonprofits, most especially restrictions on political activity. The world’s situation is dire, and we need every tool at our disposal to effect change.

On March 12, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin announced 31 deregulatory actions targeting critically important environmental protections, including the 2009 endangerment finding, which establishes a clear connection between greenhouse gas emissions and negative health impacts. In addition to these major deregulatory efforts, nearly 400 EPA probationary employees were recently fired, with 1,500 more at risk. While Zeldin has framed these cuts as cost-saving, the EPA’s own assessments prove otherwise. The Coast Guard Academy has removed all references to global warming from its curriculum in accordance with the current Administration's directive - this is incredibly concerning given the nature of Coast Guard missions. #ClimateAction of the day: Tell your federal representatives to order the USDA to distribute promised funding to farmers! https://lnkd.in/gazcGW6j Currently, the USDA is withholding over $22 billion from farmers, forcing them to abandon planned projects, forgo earning opportunities like farmers markets, and scramble to cover costs they were promised reimbursement for. The situation is especially dire for small farms with narrow profit margins. These withheld grants were awarded through key programs, including the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP), Rural Energy for America Program (REAP), and the Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities Program. This funding supports projects that help farmers conserve natural resources, improve efficiency, and implement regenerative agricultural practices. From rotational grazing systems and electric irrigation to solar arrays and fencing, each project strengthens farm resilience and longevity. But without the federal support they were promised, farmers are now left scrambling to rework plans and recover losses. Join us this week as we reach out to our federal representatives, the USDA, and state attorneys general to push for the release of obligated funds to our farmers and for the restoration of public access to vital climate datasets. We will also be sharing resources to help support local farmers during this challenging time.
