We don't believe in a one size fits all solution. VRF technology is incredible and only becoming more prominent as time goes on; with this, we have observed a lot of suboptimal equipment choices for respective applications. Below is a project we recently finished at a customer's beautiful custom log home. The customer and his wife had saved and planned for this dream home for their entire careers. The customer informed us he had received several quotes to install VRF systems using wall mounted heads. The proposals would have required long, unsightly runs of piping up the side of the home with wall mount heads that would have stuck out like a sore thumb inside of the living space. The proposal also would have required 6 or more penetrations through 14"+ thick logs. In an effort to maintain the aesthetic of the home as well as provide a higher level of comfort, we opted to install two outdoor units, neatly tucked in the back corner and out of site along with two low static and one medium static, horizontally ducted Mitsubishi units. The supply and return ducting was cut into the floor and were completed with color matched grilles to blend with the floor. We added larger filter boxes to each air handler for better air filtration of the space. We poured a concrete pad and mounted the outdoor units on floor stands. We avoid using wall mount brackets unless they are mounted directly to the foundation due to possible harmonic resonance that can occur while the unit is running. The end result is a system that is virtually unnoticeable from the interior and cannot be seen from the exterior unless peaking around to the back of the home. We were able to provide better air distribution, air filtration and overall comfort as a result. We are not interested in selling systems to collect a quick check. We reserve the right to politely decline projects if we feel the end result is not in the customer's best interest. We are not here to compete. We are here to set standards.
