All are or were acclaimed in their fields; most professionals would salivate to have a client of their caliber. In 1990, Congress passed the Americans with Disabilities Act. In doing so, ADA opened up new opportunities for men and women to excel in the professional world. As a result, more and more people are needing key advice to secure their unique investment, insurance, legal, trust and tax needs. By the way, Tony Coelho was a politician who served in the U.S. House of Representatives and was the former chairman of the Epilepsy Foundation. Coelho, who has epilepsy, was the primary sponsor of the ADA. ?? Special needs planning is often thought of only for disabled, minor children. ?? I personally learned the ins-and-outs of this distinct need when I married my husband. He has a cousin with developmental challenges from birth. A single professional cannot meet all the needs for these clients. It took planning for federal benefits, legal representation to repeatedly handle initial denials of benefits, a trust officer and investment assistance for both his cousin AND her parents so that their estate wouldn't transfer and disrupt her benefits. Old Joe Medicine Crow. I heard those specific words right as I woke up. I sat straight up because the voice that said them was as real as the room. I rarely have these dreams where the words are so crystal clear, but when I do, I totally pay attention to them. They have a meaning even though it is not always immediately obvious why. Old Joe Medicine Crow. I rather expected to find a band by that name with some one hit wonder song with superb lyrics. ?? Instead, I found the last war chief of the Crow Nation. One only gets to own the ancient and prestigious title of war chief when they are the bravest, the strongest in their tribe. This hallowed title is reserved for those able to prove themselves in combat and accomplishing the four achievements the Crow people believed were the most difficult things a warrior could accomplish. ?? Let's just say, I didn't see that coming. At the time of my dream, he had just turned 100. Old Joe. He lived another two years to the age of 102. ?? Somehow, I knew that he was extra special. And, he was. Most people stop at his being a war chief. But, it wasn't his military prowess and bravery that captured my attention. In extensive research, I found that he was both equally revered among the Native Americans as he was reviled. Why? Because he was willing to collaborate with the enemy, those who had driven tribes away from their homelands. Historicially, the Crow Nation was noted for their work in building communities and in education. He saw that the settlers had additional ideas in the same vein.?When his critics saw him integrating some of the White Man's ideas into Crow communities, they came at him hard. ?? His reply? "Take from the best and discard the rest." ?So, how exactly is the bravest of war chiefs key to your new client acquisition woes? Being able to retire early takes a vlllage. The FIRE movement continues to rise from the ashes like a phoenix, but has morphed into several different styles. FIRE means Financial Independence Retire Early - having enough in the bank to retire by age 50 or so. ?? But, no matter the style that fits you, DIY-ing is the best way to miss your goal. ?? You may feel that you are too young to have a professional team on your side. ?? However, having a good investment advisor, insurance professional, CPA, attorney (and others!) are really just the minimum to having your ducks in a row. Here's why. You may be gung-ho for this type of aggressive savings for many reasons. But, even if you think the FIRE Movement is silly or just too strictly disciplined, you may find yourself retired at 50 even if that was not your plan. It's called being laid off. ?? BUT, if you are prepared ... being laid off just is the beginning of the best time of your life! Your company is often finishing your savings for you. ? You can live any where you choose - cabin in the woods or on the lake? ? You get to start the business you've had cooking in the back of your mind. ? Today is Giving Tuesday, although at Evozen, LLC, we believe in giving every day. For those who are new to us, One Generation Away is our designated charity and we give 15% of our profits to them each year. As a growing start-up, our early checks were small, but they have grown each year and I look forward to delivering our 2023 check in just a couple short weeks. My husband and I believe that it is especially important to give to charities where you can actually see your dollars at work. We certainly see Chris Whitney and Elaine Whitney's hearts in action in all that they do and the growth they have experienced since we first personally started supporting them back in 2012 is amazing. It is humbling to realize just how little $$ it takes to make a difference in people's lives. Can you just imagine how much kinder our world would be if everybody had a belly rounded with food?

It's Native American Heritage Day ... a day that means extra to me. The very work that I do ... rainmaking ... comes from the Native American culture. And, it was a 2014 vivid dream about "Old Joe Medicine Crow" that eventually helped me dive deeper into the genesis of modern day professional networking. You see, "Old Joe" didn't turn out to be some obscure band with a one-hit wonder song as I initially thought when I sought to determine the meaning of the words. Rather, the dream introduced me to Joseph Medicine Crow, the last Crow Nation and Plains Indian war chief. At the time of my dream, he had just turned age 100. Joe demonstrated extreme bravery in order to satisfy the four specific requirements to be entitled to being deemed a war chief. He did so by integrating time-tested action amongst modern day advancements. Most importantly, this great man was able to balance the very real angst between tribes and the White Man (this is in the time of the disgraceful Trail of Tears). In doing so, he brought forward the very best attributes each side offered to build a stronger community to serve his people. I am grateful to know of Joe and his significant contributions. He passed away in 2016 at the age of 102. Please join me in honoring this very special day that celebrates the heritage of these amazing men and women.
