The mission of the Cleveland Kids’ Book Bank is to foster literacy and a love of reading by distributing free books to children through collaboration with community partners. The Cleveland Kids’ Book Bank is working to ensure all kids in Greater Cleveland have books to build their own home libraries. A book in the hands of a child is a magical thing! Reading fuels imaginations, teaches empathy, supports academic achievement, and helps parents build bonds with their kids.

#DYK the Kids' Book Bank works with 20 book champions at #Cleveland recreation centers? They request books and keep their bookshelves stocked and inviting for kids to take home any time they visit. Our Community Outreach director has been making the rounds this week to check in.
Continuing to check-in on our community bookshelves that allow kids and families FREE access to books in our community. Visit any of these community bookshelves and take FREE kids' books home with you. We will work with our stewards to replace any inventory. Yesterday, I was able to provide some updates signage and some new inventory for our shelf at Lonnie Burten Neighborhood Resource and Recreation center. https://lnkd.in/eADSmiRx

Several years ago when I served as a vendor for the OST Symposium, very few people had heard of the Kids' Book Bank. Today, I had the opportunity to reconnect with so many partners and talked with many folks who have been working with the Kids' Book Bank over the last few years! Partners shared: "We LOVE the Kids' Book Bank! I tell our team to order especially for literacy month. Plus, it's free, so why not?!" "Yes! I saw the books all of the time when I was at the doctor's office!" "I see you on Facebook!" We hope word continues to spread about this FREE resource for our partners to help kids and families build their home libraries. Our summer outreach is a critical piece of ensuring kids have books in their homes. Thanks to our Volunteer Ambassadors, more than 4,400 children chose free books this summer - right in their neighborhoods!
What do you get when 13 passionate volunteer ambassadors commit to passing out books in our community throughout the summer? Great partnerships, fun stories, and thousands of books into homes!! Thank you so much to our summer ambassadors for another season.
