The Greater Cleveland Food Bank recently learned about the USDA’s decision to end the funding for the Local Food Purchase Assistance (LFPA) program, known in Ohio as Ohio CAN, effective June 30, 2025. The LFPA program supports small farmers by providing funding for the purchase of nutritious foods like fresh produce and protein items for food banks to distribute to families in need. While we are disappointed that the program is ending, not only for the neighbors we serve but also for the farmers this program supported, we are happy that we have been able to provide more than 1.5 million pounds of food to our community since the program began in 2021. We appreciate the support of the Ohio Association of Food Banks in leading the coordination of these efforts. Learn more about the program and cuts here:

Today, the Greater Cleveland Food Bank helped unveil the People’s Flag of Cleveland—a new community-created symbol that aims to capture the pride, spirit, and identity of our city. The #CLEFlag Project collaborated with the community—gathering designs, feedback, and votes from over 10,000 Clevelanders to select the winning design.
