“Organic will be more important in the future than it is today.” Pretty inspiring comment from keynote speaker John Foraker last week. Considering organic topped $69 billion in sales in 2023,I'd say the future is bright! Here are some key takeaways that resonated with me from #organicweek in Washington DC last week: ?? The organic market is booming, especially in beverages (think plant-based milk!) – great news for a sustainable future. ?? Organic snacking is on the rise, with nutrition bars leading the pack (a trend PURIS fully supports!). ?? Millennials and Gen Z are driving the organic movement, ensuring a healthy and sustainable future for agriculture. ???? Organic is more than a label – it's a legally mandated system that fosters soil health and biodiversity. These insights solidify my belief that organic agriculture is the foundation for a thriving plant-based food industry. In celebration of this Earth Day, Mayor Adams and NYC Mayor's Office of Food Policy celebrated the inaugural signatories of the Plant-Powered Carbon Challenge.
