A PhD candidate at the University of Michigan, Courtney is researching fuel-specific engine calibrations optimized for #biodiesel, #renewablediesel and a 50% blend—helping to cut CO2 emissions and boost efficiency. Courtney hopes her work encourages engine manufacturers to make these alternative fuels a primary consideration rather than an afterthought. We're thrilled to have her join us at the 2025 Sustainability Workshop to share her insights. Clean Fuels and industry leaders, including National Oilseed Processors Association (NOPA), North American Renderers Association, World Shipping Council, Iowa Biodiesel Board, and California Advanced Biofuels Alliance applaud the bipartisan Renewable Fuel for Ocean-Going Vessels Act, introduced in Congress. This bill removes a regulatory roadblock, allowing #biodiesel and #renewablediesel used in ocean-going vessels to qualify for Renewable Identification Number credits (RINs) in the #RFS. Kansas Soybean farmers have invested in a program to bring farmers in to see and experience different parts of the soybean and ag industry, connect with their peers, and have conversations to foster growth. The third phase for our Emerging Leaders took place in New Orleans. From attending the United Soybean Board meeting and having some intentional conversations to seeing the local sugarcane industry and aquaponics segments. Our soybean industry stops were especially impactful: ??Diamond Green Diesel showed us their incredible renewable diesel plant and helped us get a scope for the industry and market pressures ?? Bunge is a great corporate partner and to see a normally rail and semi based business we’re familiar with talk water logistics was especially insightful and interesting. Seeing a vessel being loaded with soybeans headed for the Panama Canal and beyond was cool. ?? Visiting IMTT terminal to understand how liquids of all forms are stored, shipped, and transported made us really appreciate logistics. The biggest of thanks to Tom Verry and Clean Fuels Alliance America for facilitating some incredible opportunities for our group and all those who hosted us and had great conversations. Thankful to work alongside of great people including Amanda Manville and Kaleb Little to make programs like this possible.
