This week, we focused on building connections with our clients and community in a more engaging (fun) and personal manner. We know culture matters to building an ecosystem and sustaining a robust startup community. However, our dedication to achieving and delivering top-notch performance metrics remains unwavering. In the upcoming weeks, I will share some of our essential performance indicators and their significance for our work at UF Innovate | Accelerate. Let me end the week with the most significant and compelling metric of our sustained performance. Utilizing a third-party expert firm in economic modeling, we recently conducted a 28-year study (from program inception through the end of calendar year 2022) of the impact of our companies and incubation program. We found the following: * $25.3 Billion dollars of cumulative economic impact generated (I did say BILLIONS.) * Each company successfully incubated generated over $101 Million of economic impact for our community. * Our companies are high-performance, high-quality job generators - average direct wages for jobs exceed $94,000 per job, and all jobs created (direct, indirect, and induced) are north of $82,000 per job. * There was a 253x return on investment for UF's cumulative investment and the capital investments made by USDA and EDA in our facilities and program. Not many programs or investments ever yield close to those kinds of returns especially government investments. Net result: We have a strong portfolio of high-quality IP-backed ventures that have gained incredible traction in their respective markets, and acquirers, venture sources, and the talent pipeline recognize it. High-quality business incubation performance is not an accident. It comes from a sustained long-term institutional commitment to entrepreneurial excellence that often takes decades of focus, resources, and leadership. Hence, we are grateful to UF and UFRF (UF Research Foundation) for its long view. Congrats to our clients for what they do daily "to create, change, and cure for a better world" and to patient capital and funders who make this sustained effort possible. #PerformanceMetrics #UFInnovate #Commitment

We are all about service, so service to our community, friends and loved ones is no different. Please help Amanda with whatever you can. GoFundMe link in article. Thanks.
For those who don’t know, my friend Amanda has battled cancer on her own and now is asking for funds to be able to go to Texas to be with her father who is in hospice. We are close to halfway to her goal and I’m asking everyone who hasn’t pitched in to help her out with $5, $10, $20. She can’t do this on her own and we need to help her out, fam. Thanks so much. https://gofund.me/92845705

We’re reaching out to our LinkedIn family for help.
I just wanted to thank those who have donated what they can to my old high school friend (would she kill me if I called her “old” LOL). She has battled with cancer for a while now and she desperately needs to relocate back to Texas to be with her father who is in hospice. Please help her by donating anything you can: $5, $10, $20 or more. Anything helps and she and I would be very grateful if you could step up to help out. Venmo: Mspris1962 GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/6a5ff934 Let’s help change one person’s life for the better. It won’t take much and we’re taking care of our own by helping out. I’m sure Amanda and her family would be hugely appreciative for the assistance.

In 2020 - the beginning of the COVID epidemic - I was unable to attend my oldest son's graduation from West Point. Fast forward to today and that same son has performed over 30 jumps out of perfectly good airplanes, Helped secure the last of the buildings and supplies at the Kandahar airport, and has recently become an O3, Captain. I can't tell you the overwhelming swell of pride I have for him and his accomplishments in such a very short time but, as a dad, I suffer with the knowledge that he works in a hazardous job and that at any moment I could get the word that something bad or lethal has happend to him. The respect I have for him is immense. It's not all dire and dismal, but there is a serious level of seriousness that goes with volunteering to be put in positions. These people cope with the fear of death from many different opportunities that arise...and that gives rise to a warped sense of humor to overcome the dread. (Anyone cares to ask, my son has a zamboni in Afghanistan story that'll have you in stitches.) I'm thankful that he is an accomplished leader and a capable officer. He has seen the death of friends and classmates, and he still has a positive attitude throughout it all. We, more than most, are starkly reminded of those that served (even if only at West Point and never made it to service in the field) and died should be respected, protected, and held dear. Memorial Day for me and my family is a serious day of reflection and remembering our military family and friends who left this world far too soon. And....I love you, son.

Open Letter to Quality Directors: Hi! I’m developing a fully digitized way of recording and reporting out all your Environmental Controls Data, such as: Cleaning Disinfecting Particle Counts Micro Counts Pest Control Purified Water Counts Air Filters/HEPA Filters Fire Extinguishers Pressure Differentials Events ? This app will NOT be for Sample Operations like your LIMS systems do, but a whole deeper level of granularity that will allow you to get a history of tracking/trending on the complete set of environmental data needed to show the FDA/EU that your facility is in compliance. We’ll be able to show you this information automatically once the data has been input by your operators (doing the work by paper and pen now) into a commercially available tablet of your choice. ? I need help in getting the app perfected for best use by a company like yours and I’m reaching out to see if you, the Quality Director, can take a look and suggest ways to improve it. To get more information of the WHY we’re doing this, go to www.cleanspacesapp.com to view a short video about us and our efforts, and I hope to talk to you soon. Thanks, Mark Proulx, President Clean Spaces App, LLC
