Commercial Utility-Scale Solar Developer

关于我们

Clean Footprint is a company designed to help bring about a clean energy economy through solar project origination and development activities. We operate in state markets throughout the country where the appeal for alternative energy sources is highest. There, we seek out areas close to distribution sub stations with unfulfilled capacity on their circuit, with an emphasis on serving and partnering with landowners in regions where jobs and development are most needed. Our focus is on mid-sized, community-based commercial projects – normally in the 25–75-acre range and down. These projects are designed to add resiliency to the local grid and discounted power for those in the surrounding towns and counties. In addition to these benefits, we always make sure to beautify our project sites, so that the character of the surrounding land is maintained. Once a site is agreed upon, we work closely with our financial and engineering partners to have the projects up and running as quickly and efficiently as the local utility and governmental authorities will allow. For more information, or to request a Solar Cost-Savings Analysis for your business, contact John Porter at [email protected]

Great couple of days in Phoenix at the Arizona Biltmore for the Infocast Solar & Wind Summit. Beautiful, Frank Lloyd Wright-designed setting, great crowd, lots of enthusiasm and innovation at hand. Our CEO #JohnPorter and Lead Business Development exec #DavidPrybil had great meetings with several of our favorite independent power producer partners and allies, but also managed to get in a little local flavor on Day 3 by sneaking off for a hike at Scottsdale's famous Pinnacle Peak.

As most of us prepare for the holidays and a brief respite from the daily grind, one of our Clean Footprint GIS Specialists, Morgan Wood, is going a different direction, both literally and figuratively, by traveling for a month-long research trip to McMurdo Station in Antarctica. There, Morgan will be working on her Virginia Tech graduate thesis involving the environment, climate change and, yes, the use of GIS as a way to help track and possibly address climate-related issues. We are all very proud of Morgan, thrilled to be receiving her reports, and eager to have her back with us on a more regular basis once her studies are done.

Another great gathering of our Clean Footprint family at the home of CEO John Porter and hometown of many of our team members, Cape Canaveral, Florida. As usual, John and his wife Michelle were excellent hosts, providing lovely meals and lodging and taking the entire CF staff on a sunset cruise, after a day spent sharing notes and strategizing for the days and months ahead. On a more somber note, while some of our team is now in Las Vegas for a convention dealing with the booming AI-driven Data Center industry, our family as a whole is bracing for yet another deadly, climate change-fueled storm, Hurricane Milton, which threatens our home state and appears to be headed directly for our beloved Space Coast, home of NASA and much of the space exploration sector. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire state, and for our team members now battening down the hatches and preparing for what is to come.

Working in the renewable energy sector, we are all bonded and blessed by a shared mission to help bring about a cleaner, healthier economy and environment. However, our Clean Footprint team is doubly blessed to have as our Chief In-House Counsel a man who has truly walked this walk, long before most of us even had even heard the phrase “climate change.” Steve Porter has always been about doing good for the world. After attending University of Michigan, where he majored in Environmental Studies, Steve worked for the Peace Corps in Mali, Africa, where he worked to improve clean water sourcing in remote tribal villages and also met his lovely wife of 35 years, Penny. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Georgetown Law School in DC, Steve continued his service mentality by working for the Environmental Protection Agency, before segueing to a long-term role as an Attorney for CIEL (The Center for International Environmental Law), including a stint as Managing Attorney for their Office in Geneva, Switzerland. Steve has been with Clean Footprint for seven years now and has, along with his brother and CEO John Porter, been instrumental in growing the company and spreading our clean energy message to the rural communities we try to support. Thank you, Steve, for always setting the bar high and then clearing it by leaps and bounds. You’re the best!

We're happy to announce that on July 12, Clean Footprint and Pivot Energy closed on their latest solar development agreement in the state of Illinois. This new project, a 4.42 MWdc site in Adams County, is targeted for the state’s community solar program and adds one more prime location to Pivot's expanding portfolio in Illinois. It also represents a continuation of the successful, ongoing relationship between the two companies, initiated by Pivot Energy CEO Tom Hunt and Clean Footprint CEO John Porter. Since their first agreement in 2018, Pivot and Clean Footprint have collaborated to develop more than 100 megawatts of solar projects across Illinois, as well as Maryland, Ohio and Virginia. Clean Footprint remains active in those states, as well as Indiana, Michigan and Texas, with plans to add battery storage capabilities to its offering in locations where resiliency presents an ongoing challenge and need. Pivot Energy is a national renewable energy provider and independent power producer that develops, finances, builds, owns, and manages solar and energy storage projects.
