It was a banner year serving manufactured home park residents! Since 2019, CERTs has been connecting with manufactured home parks to support residents with energy efficiency resources and tools, like the Saving Energy at Home guide. This year alone we worked with 18 different parks and served over 1,500 homes (that's a lot of door knocking!) “Connecting with so many residents of manufactured homes this year felt like it got at the heart of CERTs’ work to make sure all Minnesotans have affordable bills and comfortable, durable homes,” shares Katie Schroeer, MN Climate Impact Corps member. https://lnkd.in/gMTCBRJd

Elective pay, all the way! Learn more about how Minnesota cities took advantage of it in 2024: https://lnkd.in/g92vukqx
Did you know? Houses of worship are three times more likely to adopt rooftop solar than other non-residential buildings, per the Department of Energy. And it’s all thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act. How? The IRS gives funds directly to faith-based organizations and other nonprofits to make clean energy upgrades to their buildings. Instead of waiting for tax returns, these organizations can move faster to install clean energy appliances, like solar panels, and enjoy their benefits. Along the way, the congregations and communities they serve are learning about these benefits, too — and becoming more open to adopting them themselves. https://lnkd.in/edjqzZ8H [ ??: Caleigh Wells]

Want to get your energy geek on this week? Conservation Applied Research and Development (CARD) projects, funded by the Minnesota Department of Commerce , are fascinating and enlightening — it's true! CERTs' Imani Mosher shares highlights on three of the reports she found most interesting: 1. How do small commercial HVAC contractors make decisions? Contractors play a key role when it comes to implementing clean energy projects. This research is asking all the right questions to get at the root of motivations and barriers for HVAC installers working with residential and small commercial buildings. 2. Ductless Cold Climate Heat Pumps for Multifamily Applications DYK how flexible ductless heat pump are? This technology offers an amazing opportunity for multifamily building owners to reduce energy costs AND increase comfort for residents. 3. Optimized Installations of Air source Heat Pumps in Single Family Homes Wow! The ASHPS installed during this research were two to three times more efficient than the heating system they replaced. Good design and installation of ASHPs matter. Check out the story for links to all the recordings: https://lnkd.in/g2HGEMzp

This week we launched our new guide to help residents save energy at home! ?? We're grateful to partners like MN Renewable Now who bring the guides and other energy saving resources to community members who might benefit from them. “The residents seemed excited about the resources, and we had one home that started installing the kitchen faucet aerator as we talked to them about the resource sheets we had,” shares CERTs' Keely Rau. Way to go Robbinsdale!
As of 1:30 PM on Tuesday, November 12, the solar panels on the roof of the Robbinsdale Water Treatment Plant are OFFICIALLY LIVE and producing energy! ? ? Installation of the 228 solar panels began back in mid-August, and it's expected that the panels will produce 135,174 kWh of energy in just the 1st year! Check out this cool drone footage of the newly installed panels that the City of Robbinsdale Police Department filmed!
