Developers chasing the 10% domestic content adder must rethink procurement. Are you adjusting your supply chain to meet the increasing U.S. manufacturing requirements? The Inflation Reduction Act’s domestic content bonus is reshaping solar procurement, but supply constraints and compliance risks are making it difficult for developers to qualify. To secure the 10% domestic content adder, projects must meet these requirements: ?? Iron and steel: 100% of any iron or steel used in the project must be U.S.-produced. ?? Manufactured products: A percentage of the total manufactured product costs must be sourced from U.S. suppliers. ?? 40% for projects beginning construction before 2025. ?? 45% for projects beginning construction in 2025 or later. With limited domestic PV cell supply and uncertain inverter eligibility, many developers are rethinking their procurement strategies. Some are prioritizing U.S.-made racking and balance-of-system components to ensure compliance, while others are waiting for clearer supply chain guidance before locking in contracts.
