The central coordinating point for alternative fuel vehicle (AFV) activities in the state of Georgia since 1993

关于我们

The Clean Cities Program is an initiative of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and focuses on strategies to reduce petroleum consumption in transportation. There are nearly 100 Clean Cities Coalitions across the country and Clean Cities–Georgia holds the distinction of being the first coalition. DOE officially designated the coalition in 1993. Clean Cities–Georgia is the central coordinating point for alternative fuel vehicle (AFV) activities in the state of Georgia. Our shared mission with the national Clean Cities Program is to: Advance the energy, economic, and environmental security of the United States by supporting local actions to reduce petroleum use in transportation.

The world needs more workplaces with EV chargers. That’s why The EMPOWER Project exists. And it’s why a campaign has launched to celebrate forward-thinking employers in the U.S. who are providing chargers for their employees. Workplace charging is life changing for people who can’t have a charger at home, but want to save money (and the planet) by driving electric. The EMPOWER Project's goal is to crown an EV Charging Champion–an organization that’s gone above and beyond to offer EV chargers to their employees. Whether or not you win, EVERY organization who applies will be featured on our website, promoted on social media, and sent a certificate to commemorate their success. ?? Nominations are accepted through December 31, 2024. APPLY HERE ?? https://lnkd.in/gvJgaNq4 ?? Please note: to qualify, the organization needs to have installed chargers on or after April 1, 2022. Thank you to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for funding EMPOWER.

Every child deserves a safe, clean, and healthy ride to school. When a child rides a propane-fueled bus to school, they arrive healthier, safer, and better prepared to learn. Diesel school buses are not good for our kids or our communities. Though electric buses run clean and quiet, their extremely high costs place big burdens on school district budgets. That can mean less money for what matters most: educating children. Propane buses offer many of the same environmental benefits of electric — but at a fraction of the cost. They travel farther, refuel more quickly, and even have a smaller carbon footprint. That means a clean, quiet ride for every child (and huge cost savings for school districts). #CleanCitiesGeorgia Read more: https://lnkd.in/eBz8CkwE

Each year, the clean hydrogen community eagerly counts down the days to October 8. Why? Because 10/08 = 1.008, the same sequence of numbers as the atomic weight of hydrogen! October 8—National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day—is like a birthday party for hydrogen. And best of all, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) keeps the fun rolling all week long. Hydrogen Week marks an annual opportunity to celebrate hydrogen—clean hydrogen, specifically—and the crucial role this simple yet powerful element plays in supporting a robust, equitable clean-energy future for all Americans. Read more about how you can get involved in this week’s celebration and learn a few fun facts about hydrogen! https://lnkd.in/g6rt2D8M

We're excited to share that the EPA has announced the opening of the 2024 Clean School Bus (CSB) Rebate Program application period! This is the third rebate funding opportunity through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s multi-year CSB Program. Under the 2024 CSB Rebate Program, the EPA anticipates awarding up to $965 million in rebate funding with the potential to modify this figure based on the application pool and other factors. To allow for more transformative projects, the EPA has increased the maximum number of buses funded per application from 25 to 50 school buses. Eligible applicants can apply to receive funding for the purchase of zero-emission (ZE) and/or clean school buses (propane or compressed natural gas), and the purchase and installation of ZE charging infrastructure for applicants requesting ZE buses; selected applicants may also use their awarded rebate funds for workforce training, consulting costs for bus deployments, and bus warranty costs. The EPA will also provide additional funding per bus for ADA-compliant buses and for applicants not located in one of the lower 48 contiguous states to cover shipping costs. 2024 Clean School Bus Rebate Program applicants must submit all application materials by January 9th, 2025, at 4:00PM ET through the Applicant Dashboard here: https://lnkd.in/g2C-vjqF

The U.S. Department of Energy is studying so-called "soft costs" of deploying electric vehicle charging infrastructure that sometimes are overlooked, and notes that the outlay for such items — such as permitting, inspections, administration and utility interconnections — can be higher than those for buildout costs, such as charging station construction, equipment and software. DOE’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory is leading the initiative in partnership with peer national laboratories to add clarity about soft costs that governments and private-sector companies may incur as they consider building out EV infrastructure.
