“We want our website to look like Tesla’s.” It’s tempting to look at an established brand like Tesla and take inspiration from their UI. But unless you are one of the most recognizable brands in the world, you can’t afford to neglect these UI best practices: 1) Accessibility The first thing you see when you land on the home page is a full-page video that makes it difficult to read the navigation and header items. It's important that all text on your website is legible. 2) Clear CTAs There is no color or emphasis used to draw users to the buttons in the hero section. In fact, the Federal Tax Credit banner at the top is the most eye-catching CTA on the page. Use colors and other points of emphasis to draw the eye to your CTAs. 3) Clear Value Proposition The hero section doesn’t have any clear value proposition. Tesla used to have headers like “Premium Electric Vehicles”. As a brand becomes more established, most visitors understand the value prop and are already further down the buying process by the time they land on the website. ????
