Welcome to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS), the largest of Grand Valley State University's colleges. Our students choose from more than 50 bachelor degrees and a growing number of advanced degrees in the natural and mathematical sciences, the fine arts and humanities, and the social sciences. In fact, all GVSU undergraduates build the foundation for their major studies in general education courses offered by our College. It all starts here.

The students in the Grand Valley State University Project Grand Path internship program entered a new dimension when they tested the volumetric video software Depthkit Studio provided by Cory Allen! The bridge between the physical world and an immersive digital presence is becoming a reality for the next generation! Though we only achieved 80% accuracy through the quick calibration tutorial, we had fun and we learned something new! Thank you Joseph Van Harken for getting us started and the crew Amanda Clouse, Hunter Sutton, Saud Alomar, Avary Marshall, Thu Le, Javion Ward and Kate Borgne for your patience and willingness to explore the unknown… You all rock!

Congratulations Suzanne!
?? Introducing the 2024 Outstanding Educator Award recipient, Suzanne Zack '81! A dedicated GVSU alumna, Suzanne earned her degree in arts and media in 1981, sparking her passion for video editing. After 30 years in the industry working on award-winning projects, she earned her MFA from Temple University in 1995 and returned to GVSU to teach film and video production, supporting students and connecting them with industry professionals. In 2020, Zack was honored with both the Affiliate Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award and the Career Center Internship Advocate of the Year Award. One of her former students shared, “Suzanne has helped connect me with influential mentors in the film community, many of whom are GVSU alumni, who helped me grow in my career and cultivated the community Grand Valley promised me when I first enrolled.” As the program’s internship coordinator and campus liaison for the Film and Video Alumni Network, Suzanne actively works to create opportunities that empower current students and strengthen ties with alumni.
