We recently tackled a unique challenge at a refinery in the Southeast United States with an application for magnetic level indicators, each spanning an impressive 300” center-to-center. The customer wanted to utilize the internal retention spring, but also wanted the ability to mate their process piping on the drain, as well as keep a standard side connected gage.? This was necessary for a number of reasons, but the most prevalent being support.? The customer has quite a few piping specifications around length of gages and number of connections.? Our ability to keep the retention spring by way of a special flow through plate (see image below), and still allow them to connect process piping to the drain, overcame all specification requirements. In all industries that produce wastewater—including chemical, refining, pharmaceutical, and food—strict EPA regulations?mandate that water interacting with the environment be clean and safe. The fracking industry is no exception. Even though fracking water is often reused or recycled, compliance remains critical to ensure the water returned to the environment meets local standards. Fracking water, heavily contaminated with well materials and chemicals, must be filtered and pH balanced to either re-enter the fracking process or return safely to the water table. This is where Tank Liquid Agitators (TLA’s)?play a pivotal role, dramatically improving both the effectiveness and efficiency of water processing. A fracking wastewater treatment facility serves as a prime example of eductor impact. After installing in-line eductors and tank liquid agitators, the facility scaled its daily processing capacity from just 1–2 trucks of wastewater to an impressive 8–10 trucks per day. This improvement is backed by Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis, which verified optimal velocity in the tank and demonstrated the effectiveness of these eductors. WHY Eductor Technology? ?? A power plant in Qatar initially used traditional float-and-tape level gages for tank level monitoring. To improve accuracy and visibility, especially given the tank design—4.5 meters underground and 5.5 meters above ground—we collaborated with the customer to upgrade to a Jerguson? Magnicator? Magnetic Level Indicator (MLI) with NightStar? LED illumination. The MLI provided reliable, continuous level monitoring, while the NightStar illumination ensured clear visibility in all conditions. The gage was installed with proper structural support to accommodate the unique tank design.
