We had a fantastic conversation about tangled titles during yesterday's CONVERGENCE Philadelphia event! Our VP of Advocacy, Jill Roberts was joined by Kelly Gastley of Philadelphia VIP, Pennsylvania Land Title Association's Carrie Mann, and Alicia Atkinson of The Wealth + Work Futures Lab during a panel discussion and speech on tangled titles and other forms of wealth theft that disproportionately impact Black communities. With awareness comes action: By shining a light on this issue, we're ensuring more Philadelphia families can build and preserve their wealth.

At Clarifi, we serve thousands of low-to-moderate income families each year so they can achieve significant financial and housing goals, from opening their first savings account to buying their first home. Your generosity ensures we can provide the resources, services and technical assistance necessary to bolster financial stability and access to affordable housing. Through our donors, we have: ?? Disbursed $1.5+ million in cash grants since 2020 ?? Served 3,000+ families each year ?? Helped 850+ people establish healthy savings this year alone ?? Ensured more than 130 people became mortgage-ready in 2024 Together, we will reduce poverty and increase financial resilience in our communities ??

Our Director of Counseling, Kim Rogers, spoke about the different debt relief options out there (some good, some not so good, and some downright risky) as well as the best options to pay off debt and stay out of debt. Clarifi was part of the US Conference for Mayors tour! Clarifi and the City of Philadelphia Restore, Repair, Renew program were part of @usmayors, a national housing tour that seeks bipartisan action from Congress to address housing insecurity and help more people become homeowners. Mayor Cherelle Parker also got the chance to chat with Jiciana, a Clarifi client who used an RRR loan to completely renovate the home she purchased from her family when she was 22! This was a great opportunity to showcase our innovative home preservation solutions ???

Here's why homeownership goal counseling is for everyone: ?? It's a way for us to eliminate barriers to wealth ?? It helps people stabilize their finances and improve their relationship with money. ?? It allows us to develop trusting relationships with clients, centered on their personal goals and well-being ?? It sets people up for long-term success: Even if they aren't ready to buy a home now, our counselors are always ready to provide the knowledge and tools for them to achieve that goal, whenever that day may be. That's why we're excited to offer additional homeownership goal counseling sessions through our partnership with Fannie Mae and National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC). This funding will allow us to expand access to credit and increase sustainable homeownership in the Philadelphia market. Join us for this impactful day to spotlight an issue that deprives thousands of Philadelphians of their wealth: Tangled titles. Tangled titles are a form of wealth theft. They restrict families - and disproportionately Black families - from tapping into their home's value. They prevent homeowners from selling their property, taking out a home equity loan to make necessary repairs, qualifying for certain assistance programs, and getting homeowner's insurance. We must work to ensure more Philadelphians have the resources to resolve this issue and reap the full benefits of homeownership. Registration details below ?? We are thrilled to be part of the 2024 Affordable Homeownership Summit this Friday in New York! As part of the summit's Strategic Equity in Home Preservation panel, our Vice President of Advocacy, Jill Roberts, will talk about what Clarifi is doing to ensure families in the Philadelphia region have access to safe, warm and dry homes, as well as preserve and sustain existing homeownership.
