This week, we had the chance to meet with Nicole (Nikki) Holsopple, the Community Reinvestment Act Officer for JPMorganChase, during a roundtable discussion on housing affordability, financial capability, and wealth preservation in Philadelphia. We are grateful to have joined many impactful organizations for this important conversation, including Andrew Frishkoff of LISC Philadelphia, Rick Sauer of Philadelphia Association of Community Development Corporations, Will Gonzales of CEIBA, Kenneth Bigos of Affordable Housing Centers of Pennsylvania, and Michelle Henry and Mikaela Ferrill JP Morgan Chase, among others. Our Executive Director, Annie Murphy, and our Vice President of Advocacy, Jill Roberts, have been meeting with JPMorganChase and several other Clarifi partners this past week, emphasizing the importance of our work, deepening partner relationships, and growing with the needs of the people we serve. We look forward to more collaborative efforts like this!

Clarifi is thrilled to announce the BenePhilly Helpline, a new service in partnership with the City of Philadelphia Mayor’s Office of Community Empowerment and Opportunity. The BenePhilly Helpline is expected to connect thousands of Philadelphians with public benefits assistance in its first year, while aiding in the fight against poverty. “Philadelphia families deserve easy access to the benefits that help them afford food, housing, and healthcare—but applying for them can be an overwhelming and time-consuming process,” said Jill Roberts, Clarifi’s Vice President of Advocacy. “Through the BenePhilly Helpline at Clarifi, we’re letting people know they have a trusted partner and a clear plan." A tale of two executive directors ? As we welcome our new ED, Annie Murphy, we want to take a moment to thank Steve Gardner for his five years of service. (We post this knowing full well how Steve prefers to celebrate the Clarifi staff, partners, funders, board members, and clients who have made our organization what it is today). But Steve, you not only carried Clarifi into a new era of services that prioritize wealth preservation in our communities, while tirelessly stabilizing and growing our organization's revenue: You fostered an environment that allowed us to build the leadership team, staff, and programs to meet the unique and evolving needs of our clients. You also gave Annie the warmest welcome to Clarifi these past two weeks. It's not every day we get this level of executive overlap, but that's just the kind of person you are: Making sure every member of our staff has the resources and confidence to thrive. Now, go enjoy your second retirement. For the rest of us, Happy Monday!

Last week, City of Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker?signed an executive order?aimed at addressing the city's housing crisis. The H.O.M.E. Initiative includes plans to create and preserve 30,000 units of housing during her first term. We share this because, on top of helping people stabilize and grow their finances, Clarifi is proud to be part of Philadelphia’s home preservation and homeownership efforts. We accomplish this by: ?? Preparing people for homeownership through our home purchase guidance, financial planning, homebuyer grants and more. ?? Helping families avoid eviction and foreclosure through our HUD-certified counseling ?? Empowering Philadelphia homeowners to make needed repairs through the City's Restore, Repair, Renew program, which offers 3% fixed rate loans of up to $50,000. Last year, we secured $6.95 million in low-barrier capital. ?? Disbursing home stabilization grants so people can preserve their most important asset.
