Cladding Concepts is proud to have supplied NEOLITH Sintered Stone for the stunning new South Campus Residence Hall & Dining at The University of Connecticut! This impressive 280,000-square-foot, 7-story building offers 657 beds, a 500-seat dining hall, and various amenities. ? Originally designed with natural stone, we proposed a sustainable, durable, and cost-effective solution: a Neolith sintered stone and rainscreen cladding system. This innovative approach not only enhances the building’s aesthetics but also significantly reduces weight and cost. Neolith's unique thin panel format and non-combustible properties allow UConn to achieve their sustainability goals of LEED Gold while ensuring the safety of residents through its fire-resistance. We're excited to have contributed to this beautiful and functional building that will serve UConn students for years to come. See more of this project: https://lnkd.in/eU4ZYePw ?? Project: Saint Marks Place, Brooklyn, New York Architect: INC Architecture and Design / Issac & Stern Architects Ceramic facade: KeraTwin by AGROB BUCHTAL ??: Matthew Miller / Cladding Concepts Clarity and simplicity in materiality led INC to choose a full terra-cotta facade for this building in Brooklyn which contains 100 condos across twelve floors and ground-floor retail space. It features over 8,000 ceramic panels, custom-manufactured by AGROB BUCHTAL. Their slightly off-white color helps lighten the building's bulk, explains INC's Creative Director Adam Rolston. INC's design subtly introduces complex materials and facade systems to traditional brownstone architecture that characterizes much of the neighborhood’s side streets. #agrobbuchtal #keratwin #saintmarksplace #INC #facade #cladding #fassade #terracotta #brooklyn #newyorkcity

Thermally Broken, Or Just Bent? One of the things we at CCI hear a lot these days is “thermally broken.”?Like a lot of industry terms it has no hard and fast definition (Hint: it isn’t defined in the IBC).?Instead, there is a graduated scale of meaning, relative to cost implications versus benefit to the architect, the contractor, the developer, and the end user.?One term used in conjunction with “thermally broken” is “de-rating” or the loss of the theoretical -- or more accurately -- advertised R-value of a wall assembly through thermal bridging. ?Unfortunately, de-rating is something that seems to be inherent in the VE process. So, what might be the best strategy for achieving the best possible thermal break? In our product line and envelope strategy we can offer a couple of directions. DuPont ArmorWall The first and most obvious solution is DuPont ArmorWall.?ArmorWall is a structurally insulated sheathing that meets all minimum code requirements for exterior insulation nationwide – the minimum thickness panel is 2” or R-10.?The MgO facer has a minimum pullout of 180 lbs per fastener, so wall brackets supporting any cladding under 10 lbs per square foot can be attached anywhere on the face with no additional engineering.?Each panel comes with a factory applied air & water barrier so with the bare minimum of installation labor (installing the panels and sealing the joints and fastener heads) the contractor can dry-in the building which represents an enormous savings in both site labor and schedule time. The key to ArmorWall’s thermal efficiency is that the heads of the 35 fasteners that hold the SIS sheet to the building’s structure are the only metal elements (“cantilevered fasteners”) exposed to the outdoor temperature.?A second set of smaller fasteners that don’t penetrate the board hold the exterior cladding brackets.?So, per ASHREA 90.1, the barest of minimum thermal transfer is made possible. QVent Sub-framing The second solution is our QVent aluminum sub-framing system.?The active ingredient is the thermal pad that enables about 94% efficiency -- maintenance of the proposed system R-value -- per testing by Intertek. That said, there are other options besides aluminum.?QVent has begun production of stainless steel wall brackets to offer a reduction in the conductivity of the aluminum.?We can infer that a less conductive material at the key point in the system – the wall bracket – will lead to even higher thermal efficiency. Presented above are two options that deliver on the promise of the rain screen assembly and its capabilities.?Whatever your design challenge, Cladding Concepts International has the solution to achieve it.? #dupont #armorwall #qvent #subframing #claddingconcepts #btsbm #thermalefficiency #ashrae90.1 #icc

Attending Zak World of Fa?ades was a great experience for Q-VENT. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table, and a big thanks to our friends and partners Miguel N. and JC Cotton for their support and sales lessons :)). Also, thank you to Vishaan Chakrabarti, FAIA, for his inspirational presentation, “Walls that Connect.” We’re sure a recording will be available on YouTube, so it’s worth a watch!

Cladding Concepts is very proud to embark on the largest project in our proud office's almost 100 year history. The project for Banco Popular in San Juan will be the new home of fitness and amenities, office space, a hotel with rooftop overlooking the city, retail and dining and much more. For the project, CCI helped the architectural and development team create a thermally broken solid metal plate fa?ade with intricate shape and custom colors. Of course the system and panels were required to withstand hurricane force wind loads and maintain fire safety along with an aggressive energy requirement for the building envelope. Currently, the initial Bridge complex is being completed while the superstructure for the larger Plaza complex continues. CCI is currently in design assist and shop drawing development for the new phase with an anticipated installation of fa?ade beginning summer of 2025.?
