Spirit Mountain Community Fund awarded $30,000 to support the expansion of our Latinx program in rural areas. This grant will allow us to provide comprehensive services that support the needs of survivors of sexual assault and their families, while developing and implementing culturally specific, linguistically appropriate strategies to serve the rural Latinx community. ? The Latinx population is the fastest-growing demographic in Clackamas County. Over 18% of the county’s residents live in rural communities where agriculture thrives. Yet, workplace sexual harassment in agriculture is emerging as a significant issue that threatens the well-being of farmworkers, their families, and rural communities. ? According to the Pacific Northwest Agricultural Safety and Health Center female farmworkers experience sexual harassment at rates 2-3 times higher than workers in other sectors. Unfortunately, many farms lack training and prevention programs to protect workers, and rural areas lack resources to help. ? We look forward to working in cooperation with the community to develop education, awareness, and prevention strategies to co-create safe and strong communities together. ? Thank you Spirit Mountain Community Fund for your partnership on this program!

Deep Creek-Damascus K-8 (DCD) held its first annual sock drive to honor Andrea Hartsock, a beloved educational assistant at DCD for many years. The drive took place during their annual Hartsock Kindness week which is dedicated to uplifting the kindness Mrs. Hartsock always showed to students and fellow teachers. The Tigers collected over 700 new pairs of socks to give to survivors at our Village emergency shelter. The annual drive empowers students to give back to their community and honor a meaningful member of the DCD community! ?? ? Gresham-Barlow School District 10J

As we honor our journey for our 40th anniversary, we want to remember our history as part of #WomensHistoryMonth this March. CWS, like many shelters serving people fleeing domestic and sexual violence, initially served women and children. Our agency was born out of neighbors opening their homes and sharing what they had in hopes of building a safer community for families. ? Being women-centered is part of our history, and over the years we have grown and expanded to serve anyone experiencing, fleeing, or healing from domestic and sexual violence. ? CWS is committed to supporting people of all ages, genders, sexual orientations, or immigration status to ensure anyone escaping interpersonal violence can access the resources they deserve. ? The CWS Crisis and Support Line is always available. Call 24/7 at (503) 654-2288 for free and confidential support. ? #cwsor
