To protect Ontario workers and businesses, our government is implementing a 25% surcharge on electricity exports to the U.S.. Minister Lecce has directed the Independent Electricity System Operator to enforce this charge, which could be increased if needed in response to U.S. tariffs. This move will generate up to $400,000 per day, with all revenue reinvested in Ontario families, workers, and businesses. We’re also banning U.S. alcohol and blocking American companies from bidding on $30 billion in contracts—ensuring Ontario businesses come first.
