South Carolina Fights Flooding with New County Efforts Residents in the Bay Pines community have dealt with flooding for almost 10 years. Now, Beaufort County is stepping in to fix the problem. Local advocate Terry Hall explains that a nearby stream meant to carry stormwater hasn’t been cleaned for years, causing repeated floods—even from moderate storms like Tropical Storm Debby. His home flooded with nearly a foot of water, forcing his family to leave for over seven months.
