A modern and robust democracy does not build itself. It takes hard work and dedicated community leaders. It starts on our streets, in our schools, and neighborhoods – and that is where you will find Civic Nebraska.

We are grateful that the Court is releasing a mid-week decision Wednesday [10.16.24] to provide clarity for tens of thousands of Nebraskans who are eager to vote in this election. In the event of a positive decision, we will launch our outreach efforts as quickly as possible to reach as many impacted Nebraskans as we can ahead of voter registration deadlines. Stay tuned.

Standing Bear High School students enjoyed their first-ever Capitol Experience Day on Oct. 9! They toured the Capitol, debated lowering the voting age to 16 in state and local elections in a mock committee hearing, and had an engaging Q&A session with State Sen. Carolyn Bosn, representing the school's legislative district. After enjoying a picnic lunch on the Capitol lawn, they wrapped up on the 14th floor with a discussion about Chief Standing Bear's heroic legacy of civil rights activism and a group photo under the mural commemorating his landmark court case.
