GISH sophomore Morgan Becker said visiting the Capitol as a high schooler differed from visiting it as a fourth grader: “Now that I’m a high schooler, I actually understand how the building works and what certain things people do. It gives an insight into the inner workings of this place and how much of a change you can make.” #CapDays https://lnkd.in/dAzPJsCU

Civic Nebraska creates a more modern and robust democracy for all Nebraskans.
关于我们
Civic Nebraska created a more modern and robust democracy for all Nebraskans. We achieve this through youth civic leadership programs in K-12 schools, civic health initiatives in communities across the state, and ensuring our elections are modern and accessible to all Nebraskans. A modern and robust democracy does not build itself. It takes hard work and dedicated community leaders. It starts on our streets, in our schools, and neighborhoods – and that is where you will find Civic Nebraska.

Nebraskans have spoken — again and again – about why our split electoral vote system works well for our state. The governor heard it last year during his failed last-minute attempt to shoehorn winner-take-all into the 2024 electoral calculus. The governor heard it again this year when hundreds of Nebraskans turned out to a legislative hearing to reject a revived winner-take-all scheme. And now, 432 miles from the so-called “Blue Dot,” he heard it yet again, this time at a town hall in Scotts Bluff County. The message is loud and clear: "The Split" is by Nebraskans, for Nebraskans – leave it alone. Now, if only our state's top elected official would listen.

On Monday, 3.10.25, the Government Committee of the #neleg will consider whether to advance a bill to dismantle our state’s unique split electoral vote system — one that has made Nebraska more relevant, more competitive, and more reflective of its voters in presidential elections. We need you to act now: Contact the senators on the Government Committee and tell them to reject this attempt to silence Nebraska voters. Every voice matters in this fight to keep our system fair and representative. Details ??

The #Nebraska Legislature's top-ranking committee unanimously advanced LR25CA, which would create a nonpartisan, independent legislative compensation commission, to the floor. This is great news for the future health of our Legislature. ??

“We have excellent election commissioners and county clerks who conduct elections on behalf of Nebraskans. Each time I visit to learn more about their work, I am struck by their thoroughness and careful attention to detail. We have the right people on the job." ?? https://lnkd.in/g6k3mzha
