We've been thinking about what it would take to Digitally Transform Public Sector Municipal Agencies, and based on our interviews we have identified 4 factors for success - let us know what you think ? ? #govtech : Transforming public sector municipal agencies through digital technology can bring numerous benefits, but it also requires significant investment, planning, and commitment. Here are four key factors to ensure the success of your digital transformation journey: 1-Establish a Clear Vision and Strategy A digital transformation is not just about implementing new technology, but also about changing the culture, processes, and structures of your organization. To achieve this, you need to have a clear vision and strategy that align with your agency's mission, goals, and values. This vision should be communicated and shared with all stakeholders, including employees, partners, and citizens, to create a sense of ownership and engagement. 2-Build a Strong Foundation A successful digital transformation requires a solid foundation of technology, people, and processes. This includes having reliable and secure infrastructure, modern and flexible systems, skilled and motivated staff, and efficient and effective processes. You should also consider the legal, ethical, and social implications of your digital initiatives and ensure that they are aligned with your agency's values and principles. 3-Foster a Culture of Innovation and Collaboration Digital transformation involves breaking down silos, encouraging experimentation, and promoting collaboration across departments, disciplines, and stakeholders. To foster a culture of innovation and collaboration, you need to create a supportive environment that rewards risk-taking, learning, and sharing. You should also establish partnerships and networks with other agencies, organizations, and communities to leverage their expertise, resources, and perspectives. 4-Measure and Evaluate Your Progress Digital transformation is a continuous journey, not a one-time project. To ensure that your digital initiatives are delivering the expected benefits and value, you need to establish clear metrics, targets, and indicators that align with your vision and strategy. You should also regularly monitor, evaluate, and report your progress, challenges, and lessons learned to your stakeholders and adjust your approach accordingly. By following these four key factors, public sector municipal agencies can increase their chances of success in their digital transformation journey and deliver better services, outcomes, and experiences for their employees, partners, and citizens. ???? ?? ????
关于我们
CivicMarketplace is on a mission to unlock local agency procurement through innovation, by building a marketplace that saves time and taxpayer dollars. Our platform provides government procurement offices with the ability to make purchases with ease, simplicity, and full legal compliance. We unlock public service delivery through cutting-edge technology, bringing transparency and efficiency. Access to a network of reliable, pre-approved vendors ensures compliance and stability for every deal, and our focus on SMWB & local economic development helps boost local growth by supporting diverse suppliers. Procurement officers face outdated technology, lacking innovation and understaffed teams. These leaders are left spending too much time on compliance and box checking when they could be focusing on helping organizations make the best sourcing decisions.. Government procurement is hindered by outdated systems and inefficient processes, leading to delays in decision-making. With limited staff and resources, these departments struggle to keep up with the increasing demand for development and public services. As a result opportunities for innovation and improved service delivery are missed, and difficulties arise in maintaining compliance and transparency. Vendors of all sizes face challenges in navigating the complex, slow and outdated procurement processes which in turn has a lasting impact on local economic development and sustainability. Vendors also struggle to demonstrate their value, as the focus is often on compliance rather than the quality and impact potential of their products and services. We have co-designed an AI-enabled marketplace that matches proven, highly-rated vendors with new, local government agency contracts. Our platform aims to combine industry best practices, legal compliance, and technology to empower procurement officers. Time savings are achieved by working with pre-approved, compliant vendors.

In the beautiful City of Princeton TX - a city that skyrocketed from 17,000 to 28,000+ residents in just three years - City Manager Michael Mashburn faces a common challenge: "Our finance team is only four people right now. Everyone wears multiple hats." This procurement staffing crisis isn't isolated. Five years post-pandemic, the issue persists across municipalities of all sizes. As NIGP Code & Consulting President Marcheta Gillespie FNIGP, CPPO, NIGP-CPP, C.P.M, CPPB, CPM notes: "Things never seemed to settle back into place. We anticipated a leveling point after the transition bubble, but we continue to see that upward trajectory." The real problem? Retention, not recruitment. "For many decades, procurement professionals were like library folks. You got them and you kept them. That's not true today," explains Brian Funderburk, ICMA-CM, former City of Rowlett, Texas City Manager. So how are cities adapting to solve recruitment issues? Great question! Thank you to Barrett and Greene Inc. for this great article highlighting both the problem AND the solution! Read the full? article here: https://lnkd.in/g45KeFb7 TXShare Ron Holifield A-H. “Transforming procurement isn’t just about speeding up purchases. It’s about creating long-term value for communities. It’s about unlocking economic growth by giving small businesses and startups a fair shot at public contracts.” In this great article, Brooks Williams, MPA, City Manager of Ferris, TX, lays out his thinking on procurement as the next big frontier in local government innovation. Brooks unpacks how modernizing procurement can: ? dramatically boost agility ? drive local economic growth, and ? empower communities to tackle challenges head-on. Brooks draws on nearly two decades of experience, including leading transformative growth in Ferris and guiding best practices at the Quality Texas Foundation. His passion for results-driven local government shines through as he challenges us to rethink how we spend taxpayer dollars, partner with suppliers, and embrace agility without sacrificing accountability. Huge thank you to Brooks for allowing us to share his thoughts in this article https://lnkd.in/d5gyc5dh. #LocalGovernment #Procurement #Innovation #ThoughtLeadership #CommunityImpact #ResidentOutcomes Barrett and Greene Inc.
