Story time! ?? We are excited to share the story of the last two years of our local programming at the University of Miami, hosted in collaboration with our partners at the George Hanley Democracy Center. This article was written by Andrew Engel, one of our interns at Civic Synergy and a student at the University of Miami. Check out what he has to say about it -- I’m excited to share my recent article on the impactful partnership between Civic Synergy and the University of Miami’s George P. Hanley Democracy Center! As a former participant and team coordinator in this program and now an undergraduate intern at Civic Synergy, I’ve witnessed firsthand how this initiative is bridging divides and fostering collaborative leadership. Over the past two years, the Civic Synergy program at the University of Miami has engaged over thirty students from diverse backgrounds, equipping them with the skills to solve pressing issues like climate change and rising violent crime rates in Miami-Dade County. By promoting bipartisan dialogue we’re not just addressing local challenges but also preparing the next generation of civic leaders. The latest cohort’s proposals have been truly inspiring, with innovative proposals for climate resilience and eco-friendly economic partnerships. Special thanks to all the key stakeholders and leaders who supported and listened to student teams. This program exemplifies the power of collaborative leadership and the importance of engaging young adults in the democratic process. I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such a transformative initiative and excited for the future of civic engagement on campus! Empowering future leaders to problem solve across divisions
关于我们
Civic Synergy, MIT’s 2021 Davis Projects for Peace Fellowship recipient, was founded after the events at the US Capitol on January 6, 2021 by three MIT undergrads looking to bridge the political divide in service of solving the pressing challenges of our time. We're enabling our nation to address pressing challenges by empowering young adults to communicate and collaborate effectively across divisions. As part of our national and local programs, young Americans have the chance to learn consensus building skills and propose real, tractable solutions with a politically and socially diverse group of peers. Civic Synergy is a fiscally sponsored project of Mediators Foundation.

Hear what one of our awesome national program alumni had to say about this summer's program. Thanks for sharing Hakim Morris!
Throughout this summer, I participated as a cohort member for the Civic Synergy x Hanley democracy center. We participated in thoughtful discussion bridging the polarized political climate through active dialogue and understanding. I enjoyed this experience and recommend my peers to check it out! #internship #politicaldialogue
