What do music, rollerskating, dancing, and voting have in common? You can find them all at one of When We All Vote’s Party at the Polls events across the country. ?? More than 85,000 people attended a #PartyAtThePolls event in 2024, here are our key takeaways: ?? An evidence-backed program: Party at the Polls is a proven nonpartisan program that boosts turnout by up to four percentage points.? ?? Empowering local partners: From community block parties in Philadelphia to Walk to the Polls in Navajo Nation, parties combine three proven tactics to encourage voters who are eligible but may have skipped previous elections to cast a ballot: making voting a social activity, leveraging trusted messengers, and encouraging people to make a plan to vote. ?? Add voting to your calendar: Bringing families and communities together at events near their early voting locations, Party at the Polls serves as another reason to put voting on the calendar, which increases a voter’s likelihood to cast a ballot. ?? It starts with an invite: We invited more than 13 million voters to vote early! We prioritized direct voter outreach to new voters under the age of 35 and voters of color of all ages in eight states, and made sure voters heard from us through mail, peer-to-peer texting, robocalls, and a digital program that had more than 15 million impressions. Just two years after their launch, today, the Change Collective announced their largest cohort yet. The 2025 Spring Cohort includes 75 local changemakers from Detroit, Jackson, and Chicago who all share a passion for uniting neighbors and solving local problems. From youth and reentry support to the arts and business, the Spring Fellows will address community needs with tangible solutions through neighborhood-based Civic Action Plans. 2024 was a big year for democracy and We The Action. They grew their community of lawyers to 52,000, and together, donated more than 370,000 hours worth over $194M to more than 700 nonprofit partners. Beyond staffing the largest election protection hotline in the country, We The Action's volunteers represented refugees and asylum seekers and supported patient-led groups working to find cures for rare diseases. Everyday I wake up and go to bed worrying about three things: how do I help and protect nonprofits so that they can continue doing their good work? How can I help government workers access legal resources? How can I protect immigrant communities? In the middle of all this worry and work, I have to remind myself to pause and celebrate moments when I can. So here is the pause and celebration: We The Action is now over 52,000 strong. In 2024, our community of volunteer lawyers grew to more than 52,000, and together, we've donated more than 370,000 hours worth $194M to our 700 nonprofit partners. In the last year, more than 300 bills that make it harder to vote have been introduced across the country. But even with these targeted attacks on our voting rights, there is still hope. Today, the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act was reintroduced in the U.S. House of Representatives, which would protect voters from discrimination by restoring and strengthening parts of the Voting Rights Act. Especially now, we need federal voting rights legislation like this bill to make sure ALL Americans are able to vote freely and fairly. The power should be in the hands of the people. ??????
