This past Friday, we had a wonderful orientation for the inaugural cohort of exceptional undergraduate students for the Urban Planning and Design Internship Program! Ten students, representing Cal State Long Beach, Long Beach City College, Cal Poly Pomona, UC Irvine, UCLA, and Biola University, will gain valuable experience through a “cross-sector” internship that involves government, private, and non-profit organizations. The host sites for these internships include the City of Long Beach Planning Bureau, CalTrans, Gateway Cities, Long Beach Community Design Center, City Fabrick, United Cambodian Community, Inc., Studio 111, and ULTRA-UNIT. This internship program is a vital component of the overall Urban Planning and Design Academic and Career Pipeline Program, led by the Long Beach Community Design Center in collaboration with Long Beach City College Architectural Design, Cal Poly Pomona Urban and Regional Planning, City of Long Beach Parks, Recreation & Marine, Future Long Beach, and Civic Confidence, LLC. #calpolypomonaurp #planningroundtable #cityoflongbeach #studio111 #ucirvine #caltrans #futurelongbeach #civicconfidence #apaca #aiasblb #longbeachcitycollege ??
