It's #featuredfabricator Friday! Today we are showcasing one of our member fabricators Cives Steel Company Northern Division! Cives Steel Company’s Northern Division was founded in Gouverneur, NY in 1952. Originally Gouverneur Ironworks, they have grown to become a nationwide steel fabrication presence with seven facilities located across the country. When first established, Cives primarily supplied fabricated steel to the North Country for schools and paper mills. They also built the reactor shield wall and building for the Nine Mile 2 nuclear plant outside of Oswego NY in the 1970s. Cives NOD’s territory includes all of New York State along with portions of Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Jersey, and Vermont. They have completed projects for SUNY Canton and Brockport, the Turning Stone and Lago Casinos, the Lakeview Amphitheater in Syracuse, and the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. More recently, Cives’ primary market has focused on New York City, where they have been involved in large scale projects including high rise towers, airport terminals, hospitals, schools, and stadiums. Notable projects include the Hearst Tower, 66 Hudson Boulevard, 111 W 57th St, multiple buildings for Columbia University and NYU, and several terminals at JFK and LaGuardia airports. Cives has provided the steel for the NY Islanders, NJ Devils, and Buffalo Sabres NHL arenas, and is currently fabricating the new stadium for the Buffalo Bills NFL franchise, which is the largest project in the history of the corporation. This will be followed shortly with the NYC Football Club’s new MLS stadium in Queens. Cives is AISC Certified with a Sophisticated Paint Endorsement, as well as members of NESCA and the NYS Fabricator’s Association. Cives targets between 12,000 and 18,000 tons of output per year from its shop of 100 union fabricators, and has the capacity to handle several large projects concurrently.
