In 2025, CIVC Partners marks its 55th anniversary. Founded in 1970 as Continental Illinois Venture Corporation, a subsidiary of Continental Bank, we began as a venture capital firm. During our early years, we were active investors in this emerging asset class, notably serving as the largest selling shareholder in the Apple IPO in December 1980. In 1989, we shifted our strategy to middle-market buyouts, coinciding with the retirement of our founder, John Hines. Our current leadership team took over in 1994 following Bank of America’s acquisition of Continental Bank. We rebranded as CIVC Partners and have remained committed to middle-market investments. Since then, we have invested in 86 platform companies and completed over 200 add-on acquisitions, deploying over $2.7 billion alongside our management partners. Currently, we are investing from our $870 million CIVC Fund VII. Over the years, we have partnered with founders and management teams to generate several billion dollars in value and help create tens of thousands of jobs across the country.
