We closed our second New Markets Tax Credit project this year! Family Health Services of Darke County, Inc. is expanding to almost double its current size. The organization is the largest primary care provider in the county, which has caused it to outgrow its current space. This is not the first time we’ve come across a need for more space to serve the community. Back in 2021, Five Rivers Health Centers received NMTCs to build a new, $31 million facility in West Dayton. Both of these Federally Qualified Health Centers provide critical services to their communities and often support the community in ways that reach beyond their front doors. NMTCs incentivize community development and economic growth through the use of tax credits that attract private investment in designated communities. With 29 approved loans and over 100,000 square feet of vacant space reactivated, we’d say First Floor Fund’s second birthday is one worth celebrating. These entrepreneurs opened salons, restaurants, bakeries, wine bars, cigar bars, clothing stores, and so much more. Of the 29 approved loans, 21 supported women and minority owned businesses. This is a key goal of the FFF program. Learn more about FFF and how it can help your business at https://lnkd.in/g26eAbz7

Congratulations to Senior Project Manager Caitlin Jacob on being selected for this year's Empower program!
?? Welcome Empower Cohort 7! The opening retreat was a success, and now the group starts the ten-month journey of personal and professional development aimed at eliminating barriers to advancement. In partnership with Aileron, these women will embark on a journey of identifying their personal and professional goals through day sessions, workshops, and business coaching. We look forward to seeing what’s next for these leaders! The Empower program is sponsored by Universal 1 Credit Union ? Learn more about Empower ?? https://buff.ly/4brhbTx ? Lights, paths, greenspace, action ?? More upgrades are coming to Point Park! Thanks to City of Dayton CDBG funding, an underutilized gravel lot will be transformed into a community space and trailhead. After working with the community to create a master plan, the park was divided into three areas. This funding will be utilized for area 2. While the overall vision is ambitious, the pieces are coming together as funding becomes available.?

McClure Street Bridge is an important connector for the St. Anne’s Hill and Twin Towers neighborhoods, but it lacked character. Residents of both neighborhoods came together to envision how this bridge could tell a shared history. After landing on a mural project, local artists submitted designs. Residents selected Tiffany Clark who completed the mural in August. Though this project was small, it gave two neighborhoods the opportunity to bridge the divide.

We’re thrilled to see Point Park continue its transformation and bring resident visions to life!
?????????? ????????: A new park is on the horizon at The Point in Old North Dayton. The City Commission on Sept. 4 approved a construction contract for phase one, to include landscaping, hardscape (concrete/asphalt), parking areas, and more, with work to get underway this year. Funding is being sought to construct phase two, to include access to the Mad River shore. The City of Dayton, CityWide Development Corporation and neighborhood residents created the vision for the park, which will be located on City-owned property at the intersection of Valley and Troy Streets.
