The Shambles is open for business as scaffolding goes up: City of York Council is starting a 12-week programme of window repair on the buildings we own on the world’s oldest shopping street. All the shops are fully open and pedestrians can still use the Shambles, but we appreciate there will be some disruption. We’ll provide more updates as the specialist heritage contractors start their work.

Four bus stops on the city walls side of Station Road have moved to a permanent new location. As of Monday, the new bus stops are now in use and a temporary pedestrian diversion route is in place.
