Yesterday, we celebrated 19 City employees who completed the LEAD (Learn, Empower, Aspire, Do) Program. ???? This program is open to all City employees and designed with the mindset of "anyone can be a leader". Some topics covered in the class are connection, trust, empathy, emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, creative problem-solving, change management, recognizing the impact of moods on thoughts and behaviors, motivation and more. Congratulations to them all! ??

We are so excited to officially announce our partnership with Rock Hill Economic Development and Winthrop University to launch Student-Made Rock Hill, the first-ever city, university partnership in our network! The Rock Hill Economic Development Corporation (RHEDC) is a non-profit organization committed to representing the business, educational and community interests of the City while promoting jobs and supporting growth. As one of the recipients of the 2025 Relentless Challenge and StimulateSC Grant by the South Carolina Department of Commerce, this partnership will not only allow students to engage more deeply with the small business resources provided by RHEDC, but it will also include the opening of an in-person retail location at the Hickory Post in Downtown Rock Hill! "South Carolina is home to a vibrant community of entrepreneurs and innovators, which we are proud to continue investing in," said Secretary of Commerce Harry M. Lightsey III. "This year's Relentless Challenge and StimulateSC grant recipients will further grow our state's innovation and business development ecosystems, and we look forward to the impact these 13 projects will have across South Carolina in the years ahead.” We are thrilled about this opportunity to collaborate with these incredible partners to showcase and celebrate the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of students at Winthrop University… and across all of Rock Hill. ? Rocky’s Rock Hill Adventures: The Final Stops! ?? Rocky the Elf wrapped up his incredible journey across Rock Hill with a visit to Human Resources, where he discovered why the City of Rock Hill is recognized as a Best in Class Employer! From wellness initiatives to programs that keep our staff healthy and thriving, HR is truly the heart of our team. ?????? But Rocky didn’t stop there! His final adventure took him to the Water & Sewer Department, where he got a behind-the-scenes look at all the testing and maintenance that goes into keeping our water safe and flowing.. ???? And guess what? Rocky finally spotted some ice here in South Carolina while working the overnight shift—talk about a chilly surprise! ???? With his adventures complete, Rocky is now heading back to the North Pole to share all the amazing stories of Rock Hill and its incredible people with Santa! ?? ??? Rocky the Elf's Learning Adventure Continues! This week, Rocky continues to learn how our city operates and keeps things running smoothly: ? Rock Hill Utilities - Electric: Rocky made a swooping entrance into the Operations Center for his day with our electric department. Ever wonder how holiday lights shine so bright? Rocky got a behind-the-scenes look at how our electric services keep the city powered up for all the festivities. He also lent a hand inspecting an underground junction box to see if there was enough space to terminate a line for a transformer. Shew! What a day! ? Rock Hill Parks, Recreation & Tourism : Rocky decided that after an exhausting day with the Electric department he needed to lace up his tiny elf sneakers for a day of fun with the sports programmers! From youth leagues to adult volleyball and everything in between, he discovered how PRT brings people together through sports. Who knew elves could dunk? (or maybe he got stuck?) ??? Neighborhood Services: From ensuring homes are safe to supporting thriving neighborhoods, Rocky learned just how much goes into keeping our community warm and welcoming. While out with inspectors, he found himself stuck in a pile of debris. He decided it was time to get back indoors and relax with staff during their holiday party. Rocky found himself a little too 'wrapped up' in the festivities and needed help getting out. Rocky’s holiday mission? To help us all appreciate the hardworking teams making the season (and every season) brighter! ??

??? Rocky the Elf Discovers More Rock Hill Magic! ?? Rocky the Elf is continuing his adventure through city departments, meeting even more incredible staff that make our city special: ??? Planning - Rocky learned how they shape the future of Rock Hill, by monitoring traffic flows and making sure new projects are built safely and beautifully. He even joined staff in the field, but safety is first and staff ensured he had a elf-sized construction hat! ?? Communications & Marketing - Rocky saw how they share all the city’s exciting news and events. He learned the do's and don'ts of brand standards and was embarrassed to know the City logo on his hat was wrong. He then tried to take charge of a council meeting, but staff was able to convince him to check out the behind the scenes instead. ?? General Services - From keeping up with warehouse inventory, providing custodial services and keeping facilities and vehicles in tip-top shape, this team makes sure Rock Hill is always shining bright. Rocky may have tried to “fix” a few things himself! Every stop on Rocky’s journey shows how amazing the City of Rock Hill truly is. ???? Rocky the Elf Explores Rock Hill! ???? Rocky the Elf is on a mission to learn about the magic of the City of Rock Hill! He has been busy learning about all of the City's departments. His recent stops include: ??Rock Hill South Carolina Police Department - Rocky got a behind-the-scenes look at how officers keep our community safe. He even got a lesson on how to gather fingerprints! ?? ???Public Works - From garbage collection to making street signs, Rocky learned how Public Works keeps the city running smoothly. He couldn’t resist climbing on an excavator! ?? ??Finance Department - Rocky discovered how the city manages budgets to keep all these amazing services going. He also got into mischief and got stuck inside the drive-thru machine. Once he was saved, he realized numbers can be magical too! ?? Rocky is loving Rock Hill and learning so much about what makes our city shine. Stay tuned for more elf-sized adventures! ???
