"On Saturday July 13, 2024, we towed our travel trailer down to the dump station near the Guy Street Transit Complex. For reasons that are unclear, our tow vehicle's electrical system failed after we pulled up, leaving us stranded and obstructing one of the dump station lanes. We were upset, flustered and overheated on a 98-degree day.
Time and time again, the friendly City of Pullman staff asked if we needed assistance, answered our questions about parking and ways to remedy the situation while offering us ways to keep cool and water to keep us hydrated. In particular, Dispatcher Debbie in the Transit Office and Driver Jason went out of their ways to be good Samaritans. Another driver (whose name we didn't catch) was also helpful.
City employees made the wait in the sun bearable. Too often we don't hear about the great work done in small ways in our small community. These folks were our heroes when we were in distress. Our gratitude and congratulations for a workplace culture that nurtures all rather than closes the door in their face."
