Recently, the Kannapolis Youth Council spent time planting trees around the City's newest public parking lot. ???? The lot is located at 311 Oak Avenue, near First Presbyterian Church, in downtown Kannapolis. It is located within a 5 minute walk to downtown businesses and Atrium Health Ballpark and is free to the public.

Chris Hill has been promoted to the position of Kannapolis Deputy Police Chief. Chris joined the Kannapolis Police Department in 2009 as a patrol officer. Since then he has served in as an investigator, a field training officer, instructor and field force operator. He has held the positions of Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain. As Deputy Police Chief he will oversee the efficient operation of the three bureaus of the police department and assist in the implementation of department policies, plans and strategies.

From 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, October 12, the Kannapolis Environmental Services Department and the Kannapolis Youth Council will host a free document shredding event at Public Works, 1401 Bethpage Road Kannapolis NC 28081. This event is for Kannapolis residents only. Document shredding is limited to five file boxes per person, which is the equivalent of two 40-gallon trash bags. No businesses please. The City of Kannapolis Police Department has received the prestigious Trilogy Award from the FBI – Law Enforcement Executive Development Association. This award is given to police departments whose top ranked staff members have completed three specialized tiers of leadership training. The three tiers of training are the Supervisor Leadership Institute, the Command Leadership Institute and the Executive Leadership Institute. It takes a minimum of two years to complete the training. “Completing this training was important for our organization. Accomplishing this milestone continues our commitment to be a professional, well trained, and progressive law enforcement agency,” commented Kannapolis Police Chief Terry Spry. Completing the training - Lt. Jason Hinson, Lt. Allen Tomlin, Lt. Jamie Livengood, Capt. Brent Rowland, Deputy Police Chief Daniel Wallace, Chief Terry Spry, Capt. Chris Hill, Capt. Jennifer Clarke, Lt. Justin Smith and Lt. Chris Fisher.

The City of Kannapolis Finance Department has once again been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the U.S. and Canada. The City has received this designation for 32 consecutive years. The certificate is given to governments who meet the highest levels of governmental accounting and financial accounting. The Government Finance Officers Association serves approximately 17,500 government finance professionals in the U.S. and Canada.
