关于我们
The City of Fort Smith serves nearly 90,000 residents and 11,000 businesses within its incorporated boundaries. The municipality employs over 1,000 staff and operates under a strong “city administrator form of government.” The city administrator oversees a budget of approximately $300 million, exercises authority over all city operations, and reports to the City’s legislative body, the Board of Directors. The Fort Smith Mayor officiates over City-related ceremonies and presides over board meetings. Located along the Arkansas River, the Fort Smith community spans just over 68 square miles adjacent to the Oklahoma state line. It offers a wealth of diversity in both its landscape and community. Nearly 300,000 people who live in the surrounding region commute to Fort Smith for employment, entertainment, or education. Fort Smith ranks as the third-largest community in Arkansas and one of the oldest cities in the state. The U.S military founded Fort Smith in 1817, and the City’s incorporation occurred on Christmas Eve, 1842.

? New Recruits Ready to Kick FOG to the Can! ? The City of Fort Smith Communications team had a great time presenting to FAITH Homeschool Co-Op students about the dangers of Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) in our pipes! These students proudly took the FOG Junior Marshal Oath, vowing to help us: ? Seal it ? Scrape it ? Wipe it ? Just Trash it! Our team will visit public schools in the coming weeks to continue spreading the word and recruit more FOG-fighting junior marshals! ?????? Remember: Put Fats, Oils, and Grease in the Trash, NEVER down the drain! #FOG #FSWaterUtilities

??Our Communications team had a fantastic time participating in Read Across America Week at Woods Elementary School this morning! Public Relations Manager, Josh Buchfink, kicked things off by reading My City is a Fort by Kathy Watson and Stacy Bates—a fun and educational book that highlights the rich history and culture of Fort Smith. He also took the opportunity to remind kids about our annual My City is a Fort, fort building competition at the Chaffee Crossing Food & Artisans Market on May 17th. To wrap up the visit, Communications Specialist, Carol Price, shared a cute tail—oops, we mean tale!—about Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes. By the time we left, the kids were excited to keep READING in their school shoes! ???? A big thank you to Woods Elementary for inviting us to take part in this wonderful nationwide initiative, promoting literacy and inspiring the next generation of lifelong readers. #ReadAcrossAmerica #FortSmith #LifelongReaders
