We are the 'Can Do' City - Neighbors to the largest U.S. military installation in the world.
关于我们
The City of Fayetteville is ‘Can Do’ Carolina, a community with a central location in both the Carolinas and the East Coast, that is home to over three hundred thousand people and includes Fort Liberty— the largest U.S. military installation in the world. Fayetteville is the 6th largest city in North Carolina. Many in our community are deeply rooted in the local tradition of getting things done through hard work, determination, service and generosity. Others from across the country and the world have joined this tradition, and together we are building the next great region of the Carolinas. We count on our military connection, engaged citizens, diverse economy, excellent arts scene, and three outstanding area colleges — to help us move towards that future. With a thriving downtown, state-of-the-art baseball stadium and new development throughout the City, there’s no end to what we can do.

It is Human Relations Month, a time to celebrate diversity, inclusion, and the power of strong community connections. It’s also an opportunity to recognize the incredible individuals who work tirelessly behind the scenes to promote fairness, equality, and respect for all! As we close out February, we want to extend our appreciation to the dedicated staff of the Fayetteville-Cumberland Human Relations Department. Their commitment to building community, addressing concerns, and ensuring that every resident feels valued is truly commendable. Through education, outreach, and advocacy, they help create a more inclusive and welcoming community for everyone. Thank you to our Human Relations team for making a difference! Join us for a significant milestone in the history of Fayetteville, as we celebrate the ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly restored Orange Street School, located at 600 Orange Street on February 27th at 4 p.m. Thanks to collaboration with Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation and Cumberland County, NC, new generations can now experience the rich heritage and significance of this historical location. Established in 1915, the Orange Street School was one of the first publicly funded schools for African-American students in Fayetteville. E.E. Smith High School found its beginnings on the second floor in 1927, and the building subsequently transitioned into Orange Street Elementary School in 1951. The school, deeded to the Orange Street School Restoration and Historical Association in 1986, will now serve as a recreation center. Programs at the center will emphasize STEM educational activities and cultural arts for local youth in Fayetteville and Cumberland County. “The Orange Street School is more than just a building—it is a testament to the strength, perseverance, and contributions of those who walked its halls,” said Mayor Mitch Colvin. ”Preserving this historic landmark ensures that its legacy of education and progress continues to inspire future generations.” Find more information about the restoration of Orange Street School here - https://bit.ly/3XcNLna #fayettevillenc
