The City of Derby is pleased to announce that Jacque Butler has been named Derby’s new City Attorney. She will begin her position with Derby on Dec. 2. Butler is returning after previously serving as the Derby City Attorney for nearly 10 years from 2013 through 2023. She most recently worked as Deputy City Attorney for the City of Wichita, overseeing large capital improvement project contracts and serving as counsel to the Wichita Airport Authority. Butler replaces Jacqueline Kelly, who will begin serving as a Sedgwick County District Court Judge in 2025. In addition to her prior service in Derby, Butler has worked in private practice, as an in-house attorney at Kansas State University, and as the Larned City Attorney. Raised in Kinsley, Butler earned her juris doctorate degree at Washburn University. She resides in Derby and is the proud mother of two daughters with her husband, Michael.
