At a recent City Council meeting?Director of Public Works Bill Ferrigno?was honored with the?American Public Works Association Ohio Chapter’s Public Works Servant Leader Award. The award celebrates individuals who exemplify integrity, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to public service. Ferrigno, marking his 30th year with the City of Delaware, has played a pivotal role in the city's growth and infrastructure development. He served as City Engineer until this year and, for the past decade, has also led the Public Works Department, a role he continues to fulfill with distinction. ? “Bill’s leadership and commitment to excellence have greatly impacted our operations and the community,” said?Paul Brake, Delaware City Manager. “He represents the spirit of servant leadership, always putting the public’s needs first and striving to improve the services we provide.” ? We recently had the opportunity to take a ride with one of our newest Delaware Police officers, Amanda Diedrich. She currently works the evening shift helping keep our City safe. Welcome aboard Officer Diedrich!

Our State of City was moved for the first time last year to The Strand Theatre and it was the perfect venue. Come join us again this year! The State of the City presentation will be on March 20, 2025, at the Strand Theatre, 28 E. Winter Street. The free program will run from 7 – 8 PM with the doors opening at 6:30 PM. Hear about the important projects and accomplishments over the past year in Delaware and what is planned for 2025 and beyond.

A big shout out goes to Zack Schaeffer as he was recently promoted to Captain at Delaware Fire Department! Capt. Schaeffer has been with DFD for 12 years and was promoted to Lieutenant in 2018. Away from the firehouse you can find him playing hockey, going hunting, or spending time out on the water boating. Great job Capt. We love to be able to promote from within our departments!

Ben Hagstad is in his 11th year as a firefighter at DFD. He was just promoted to Lieutenant! Ben's also a registered nurse and is a private pilot! Congrats Lt. Hagstad we are glad you are with us!!

Last week, City Manager Paul Brake presented an update on City of Delaware operations to members of the Delaware Area Chamber of Commerce. In his presentation he spoke of the unique challenges and opportunities that come with Delaware being both a growing city of nearly 45,000 and a mature city approaching 217 years old. City Manager Brake will touch on these themes again at the City's officials State of the City presentation event. The free program will be Thursday, March 20 at the Strand Theatre, 28 E.
