Last night the Alabaster Government Academy had the pleasure of hearing from Alabaster City Schools Superintendent Dr. Wayne Vickers, who gave a rundown of all the positive things happening in our amazing school system before leading the group on a tour of the state-of-the-art Thompson High School. Thank you to Dr. Vickers and the ACS staff who made this an awesome night!

We're a little more than a week away! Mark your calendars for the 2024 Alabaster Fall Fest and the Alabaster Arts Council's Jubilee 4 on Saturday, Oct. 26, at Larry Simmons Stadium. Enjoy vendors, a trick-or-treat trail, inflatables, hayrides and more, plus live music from Twelve and Sean "Rockstar" Heninger. Due to construction next to City Hall, the Fall Fest will have a different venue and layout this year at Larry Simmons Stadium. Parking will be available in the new paved lots next to the stadium and Jim "Peanut" Davenport baseball field, with overflow parking available at Warrior Park. Vendors will be set up around the walking track, and food trucks will be set up along Stadium Drive. We hope to see you there!

Last night members of the Alabaster Government Academy got an in-depth look at the Alabaster Fire Department by hearing from several members of the department's command staff and learning more about the equipment the department uses to protect life and property. Thank you to everyone who made this event a huge success!

This summer we've been honored to have several future leaders interning with various departments throughout the city. These young men and women have spent the last few months completing projects and learning more about what it takes to operate a successful city. In fact, they've been so busy it was difficult to get all of them into one photo! As they prepare to head back to high school, college or the workforce, we'd like to take a moment to thank each of them for their hard work this summer! Jace Newman - Public Works mechanic Colton Conway - Public Works mechanic Jason Peavy - Parks and Recreation Cole Henderson - Parks and Recreation Evan Cooper - Parks and Recreation Josh Smith - Building Tate Carter - Library Nora Ellis - Public Relations Madison Melton - Economic Development Tyler Phung - Information Technology
