The sun is going down in Chula Vista. It is getting cold at night. Tomorrow I get to meet with the City Net Team that is bringing Chula neighbors indoors. Can't wait!
关于我们
City Net is a team of nonprofit professionals committed to breaking the cycle of homelessness in the communities we serve by connecting neighbors experiencing homelessness to transformative care and innovative solutions that lead to housing. In many cases, we are contracted by cities and regions to lead multi-sector homeless collaboratives, which unite city and county agencies, law enforcement, non-profit organizations, businesses, advocacy groups, concerned citizens and the faith community in a singular effort to address and end homelessness in the community. The coordination of care among these groups results in shared goals and successes greater than the sum of the individual parts. When local needs require it, City Net deploys staff in direct service provision through street outreach and case management services. Street outreach seeks to connect unsheltered homeless neighbors with emergency shelter, housing, or critical services, and provide urgent, non-facility-based care. These activities are intended to help homeless neighbors obtain appropriate supportive services, including permanent housing, medical and mental health treatment, counseling, supervision, and other services essential for achieving independent living, case management, and other federal, state, local, or private assistance available to assist the program participant in obtaining housing stability. City Net also works to mobilize community resources, including meals, volunteers, donations and advocacy, to coordinate care in emergency shelters, parks, and other public areas where homeless neighbors live. These efforts seek to reduce wasteful duplication and fill missing gaps in the continuum of care, with the long-term goal of ending homelessness by providing homeless neighbors a stable context in which their emergency needs are met, so they can work on sustainable housing plans. City Net is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, a dba of Kingdom Causes, Inc. Federal Tax ID 57-1162424.

A small group of City Net colleagues spent one night outdoors this weekend. The hope was to create an experience that would foster a deeper understanding of the issue of unsheltered homelessness. It worked... Spending the night unsheltered because you can, in your backyard, is largely fun, though I must say I was reminded of how hard dirt is. Living unsheltered with your children because there is no other options would be crushing. #homelessness #California #children

What if your city had a well trained multi-disciplinary team especially focused on engaging the needs and challenges associated with unsheltered homelessness? A team that reduced the calls for service for first responders, saved cities money, and elevated outcomes for those experiencing homelessness? City Net has been providing this innovative approach in Santa Ana for some time with great success! #homelessness #wisdom #solutions

Meet Martin, he is a Regional Program Director for City Net. When asked about what he finds to be most rewarding about his work he said... "Having the opportunity to support teams that change human beings' lives every day. Case Managers are blessed with the opportunity to be a part of client's euphoria that first night of being housed. Supporting clients in the subsequent days, weeks, and years afterwards, is a part of the human experience that cannot be replicated. Case Management works. Case Management has worked both personally and professionally in my journey and being able to support world-class managers that work with City Net makes me feel accomplished, rewarded, and so grateful every day."

City Net meeting people where they are...
Success Story: After just three weeks in the Corona Emergency Motel program, a single mother and her son have made significant progress toward permanent housing with City Net. While working with case managers, the client has actively utilized available resources through the organization, allowing her to secure full-time employment. Their case managers have been supportive every step of the way as the mother and her son work towards creating a stable life for themselves and have already started saving for permanent housing. Her commitment to rebuilding her family's lives has been evident to her case managers, and they are confident that she will find a housing option that works for them in the next few months, given her current pace of completing her other goals.
