Citymakers Collective was honored to present at the 60th International Making Cities Livable Conference in Newport, Rhode Island! Our workshop session, Teaching the Next Generation of Citymakers, featured practitioners and researchers from around the globe! We had an informative presentation about Bolstering A Growing Movement: The Need for Educated Young Voice by Will McCollum, the President of Citymakers Collective, an Introduction of the Citymakers Collective by Katherine O'Neil, MS, the Director of Operations, and then a Challenging the Pedagogical Paradigm: A Roundtable Discussion With Ann Sussman, Marjo Uotila, and Ruben Hanssen. The workshop session shared stories from the frontlines of activism, answered key questions on establishing city-making summer schools worldwide, and presented paradigm-shifting research into our urban spaces. The youth must be at the forefront of any effort to institute rapid change in how we design our cities, yet their options to self-educate are limited. Together, we can change that.
